Bellew-Chilemba RBR
Re: Bellew-Chilemba RBR
Fight is scored a draw. Yep.
Re: Bellew-Chilemba RBR
Fair decision. The commentary was extremely biased in favor of Bellew.
Re: Bellew-Chilemba RBR
Bellew looks pissed at the decision, not sure why, that could've easily been another L on his record, judges did him a favor there....

(only because of PTBF)
Thanks for the updates, everyone.
Sounds like a fair decision.

Was it British?Owl wrote:I find it interesting how biased the commentary was.
Re: Bellew-Chilemba RBR
British Commentators are some of the most biased I've heard a lot of the time. The commentators for the Herol Graham vs Julian Jackson fight were riding Graham's nuts so hard it was ridiculous.Owl wrote:I find it interesting how biased the commentary was.
Re: Bellew-Chilemba RBR
The commentary was horrifically biased. They're painting it like it was a huge robbery, and they gave Chilemba very little credit even though he landed the best punches of the fight.

Re: Bellew-Chilemba RBR
so unlucky tonight, i put some £ down on Mathews & Chilemba, both worthy underdogs against overrated favourites.
2 freaking draws, who would've thought it?

Re: Bellew-Chilemba RBR
Eh...I don't mind it. I knew almost nothing about either of these guys coming into the fight, the people that picked a close decision either way will get a few points I guess, but it's no major loss or gain to anybody in the PTBF game, so it's all good.Rover wrote:

Re: Bellew-Chilemba RBR
I heard the British commentary and they didn't give Chilemba near enough credit in many exchanges where Bellew threw bigger punches, but missed and was hit clean. I think the draw was fair, but I still had it 7-4-1 for Chilemba.Rover wrote:Was it British?Owl wrote:I find it interesting how biased the commentary was.
Re: Bellew-Chilemba RBR
Yeah they're bias but who isn't? Actually don't mind them as much as HBO as they don't pretend to be the be-all end-all except for when it comes to Haye, then it's madness.
Re: Bellew-Chilemba RBR
HBO commentary getting all kinds of hate all the time...I just don't get it. Any fight of the year candidate is better off when Lampley is on the call in my opinion.Blodhemn wrote:Yeah they're bias but who isn't? Re: Bellew-Chilemba RBR
It was hard for me to pick this fight as I looked too deep into it and figured both fighters play into each other's weaknesses , but certainly didn't see Bellew the favorite that he was. Expected Chilemba to do more early, thus winning 8-4 but losing on the cards 7-5/8-4. But as it turns out, they fought even.gilgamesh wrote:Eh...I don't mind it. Re: Bellew-Chilemba RBR
So much for my prediction that this would be the fight of the day . . . sounds like a bit of a stinker.
Re: Bellew-Chilemba RBR
You've already said this to me before and my reply would be the same as I said then. HBO is drama queen commentary.gilgamesh wrote:HBO commentary getting all kinds of hate all the time...I just don't get it. Me too man, but don't worry, we still got another one to go tonight. Still a whole lot of boxing to go for the yearRover wrote:I wanted those extra points, damn it!gilgamesh wrote:Eh...I don't mind it. Re: Bellew-Chilemba RBR
Fair enough, I respectfully disagree. I've seen FOTY fights on Showtime, ESPN, HBO...hell everywhere. For some reason it always feels more special when it's on HBO for me.Blodhemn wrote:You've already said this to me before and my reply would be the same as I said then. You picked something other than Rios-Alvarado II to be fight of the day?Tanzio wrote:So much for my prediction that this would be the fight of the day . . . sounds like a bit of a stinker.

Re: Bellew-Chilemba RBR
I think the judges should get credit for taking the fight away from me by not favoring the hometown boy. I had it Bellew, decision close because I thought that Chilemba would edge it but lose the decision.

Oh he definitely did. But here's some of the commentary I recall, I'm paraphrasing but it was something likeRover wrote:I thought Graham clearly won every round--until the fourth, of course.gilgamesh wrote:British Commentators are some of the most biased I've heard a lot of the time. "Graham's fighting like we always dreamed he could tonight"
"Tonight Jackson has so little in comparison to Graham"
after the vicious KO shot
"OH NO!!!!!That's what we were worried about! Oh he won't get up from that...Would you believe it? Would you believe it?"
Re: Bellew-Chilemba RBR
Ah, I understand now. I thought you meant they were claiming Graham was doing better than he was.
