Was indeed the case....
Shit scores. Atleast the right guy won. Most of the fights today had the right winners. Should mark it on the calendar.

I've seen him fight many, many guys and he doesn't usually have the one punch power that he showed in the Bradley fight...I've never seen him hit that hard, that consistently. I don't think he could hurt Rios like he did Bradley though, but Provodnikov seems like a tough son of a bitch too. I'd definitely love to see them fight it out and see which one actually better. But Rios vs Alvarado III is already set in stone before that can happen.
Apparently Provodnikov is stronger at 147. We will see if that's true. Even though the last guy at 140 he fought was a can, his face was literally crushed like a can. Ruslan's got real thudding power, but in some past fights he wasn't able to set them up in order for em to land solidly.

Still can't believe how shitty Rios looked tonight, but that post fight interview almost made up for it.

Been saying for some time that Rios is the most overrated guy out there, couldn't see what others were seeing

Provodnikov is overrated
Funny that only a few weeks ago, he was underrated.
How one fight can change perceptions.

yeah, strange.... everyone is talking about a 3rd fight but i'm not really that sold on a 3rd one. Alvarado is better, we know that conclusively now. If he gets sucked into a toe-to-toe war again, Rios wins. If he boxes like he can box, he is superior in his timing, balance, footwoork, and > Rios. What do we want to see in a 3rd bout exactly? The division so stacked im far more interested to see both guys in with other contenders.

It was a very good action fight. They're 1-1. And a lot of the top jr. welters are with GBP, so I'd have no beef with a rubber match.

If somebody is still collecting scores, I had it 115-112 Alvarado.

Yeah, and I don't like Rios in spite of my PTBF pick, so I'm not that sad he lost.

Oh, thanks for the reminder, as I wasn't here live.
116-112 Alvarado for me.
Alvarado: 3-5, 7-10, 12
Rios: 1-2, 6, 11

The post fight interviews were some of the best I've ever seen. I thought there for a second they were going to scrap. Rios' telling Max he needed to get his eyeballs checked out was hilarious.

My first thought at seeing and hearing Rios in the interview was "damn, that right hand in round 3 killed 90 percent of his brain cells." ;)

SouthpawStephen wrote:Stupid crowd booing. Crawford's ring generalship is really keeping Prescott from throwing. This kid has good speed, fundamentals, ring generalship, he's ambidextrous, and we will see about his pop. Looks like we got a another big player at 135/140
I don't think they were booing his ring generalship. I think they were booing the fact that he wasn't using it to create much offense. It's like a basketball game with no shot clock, where one team scores a basket and then dribbles around for the rest of the half. He definitely gets credit for ball control, but nobody likes to see a 4-0 basketball game.

He displayed plenty of legitimate ring generalship to beat Prescott in that he kept him from getting off and did land a reasonable amount himself, but there were more than a few moments in which he was flat-out running. I generally defend what other people consider bad fights, but I was truly bored with Crawford.

For the fight score collector:
Prescott-Crawford
1: 10-9 Prescott, toss-up
2: 10-9 Prescott, clear
3: 10-9 Crawford, close but clear
4: 10-9 Crawford, clear
5: 10-9 Crawford, toss-up
6: 10-9 Crawford, clear
7: 10-9 Prescott, toss-up
8: 10-9 Crawford, clear
9: 10-9 Crawford, clear
10: 10-9 Crawford, clear.

97-93 Crawford.

Rios-Alvarado:
1: 10-9 Rios, close but clear
2: 10-9 Rios, clear (almost 10-8)
3: 10-9 Alvarado, clear
4: 10-9 Alvarado, toss-up
5: 10-9 Rios, close but clear
6: 10-9 Rios, close but clear
7: 10-9 Rios, toss-up
8: 10-9 Alvarado, clear
9: 10-9 Alvarado, toss-up
10: 10-9 Alvarado, clear
11: 10-9 Rios, clear
12: 10-9 Alvarado, clear

114-114, Draw
