Hatton Vs Castillo - Who Would Win?

Post by The Hawk »

With Jose Luis Castillo going towards 140 pounds for his rematch with Diego Corrales and winning by a fantastic knockout, who would win in a Light Welterweight fight between Ricky Hatton and Jose Luis Castillo and reason's why?

I'd go for Hatton to stop Castillo late in the fight as Castillo is not hard to find and Hatton's strenght and body attacks I think would break him down. This fight would have the makings of a fight of the year and its a fight I'd like to see happen.

It took everything Corrales had to wear down Castillo... And then some.

I just can't imagine Hatton doing the same.

If anyone is getting stopped, I would say it's Hatton.

But I'll go w/ a Hatton SD.

This is why I think it would be a great fight :box:

I think it would be Hatton's full weighted Body attacks on Castillo who is used to fighting as a lightweight that would break Castillo down late in the fight. I'd like to see it happen early 2006, I can't see Cotto or Mayweather coming next so this for me would be a great "Super" fight!

What a great fight this would be, Hatton's chin is relatively strong and he would need it to get through the assaults of Castillo who in turn also has a solid chin. This would be no war of attrition, both men would go looking for each other straight away and it would turn into an all out war. As for a winner? Who knows!

Holy moly, tough one to call. I don't think the workrate and stamina that got to Tszyu (and some people are forgetting just how close that fight was) would get to Castillo.

However, maybe Hatton's speed of shot and better variety than Corrales might.

I lean toward Castillo, but who knows.

My god that would be something.

Have to agree with HH1, Hatton does do so many things better (except looks  ), most importantly hes faster of foot and hand, boxes better, hes stronger, better movement. I don't see how Castillo wins this and remember I'm known as a Hatton Hater.

Lets get this fight ON! Would be an epic battle. Both are accurate and incredibly tough. Hatton gets the slight edge due to increased size and strength. would the venue really make a difference for this fight? I mean the ref wouldnt have to intervene too much because the fighters would go at each other from start to finish.

Hatton is very big for a light welter, so I think his size would show. The attrition work he did on Tszu would not really work on Castillo, who is still far fresher that Tazu was when they clashed.

Hatton might smother Castillo, and break his heart late with his body attacks, but who knows. Castillo IMO is the better and more experienced of the pair, but Hatton is unstoppable at the mo.

Awesome fight though
