Why waste £15 when you can get one for £1.50? The more expensive ones aren't any better.

That's a good point.

On Saturday SKY broadcast 2 extra hours of boxing behind the red button featuring the likes of Khalid Yafai, Callum Smith and James Dickens. Rather than tucking this away on the red button, SKY should consider putting this type of thing out free on one of their other channels like Pick TV or Challenge TV. It would help build the profile of some of Matchrooms younger boxers by giving them massive exposure via Freeview. Surely Eddie Hearn would also see the value in this?

I bought a 12ft HDMI cable for my laptop which has a HDMI output for £6.00 with free delivery. It's brilliant hooked up to my HD TV. When I'm waiting for the boxing to start. I play games like Rampage and Alex Kidd with my XBOX 360 USB controller.

I bet not many watched it. Boxing is really struggling to get audiences on tv.

I'd have watched it if I'd been aware of it.

There's some good boxing on BoxRec in April and the Rios/Alverez rematch was an excellent bout; it is worth ten pounds per month and those who choose the stream method probably wouldn't dream of sneaking into a live show.

SKY Sports News being taken off Freeview and being put behind a paywall on both SKY and Virgin back in August 2010 certainly hasn't helped. SKY Sports News was available in almost every household in Britain. I meant people would see interviews with the fighters and promoters leading up to fights along with weigh-in footage and often very brief highlights the next day. It helped keep boxing in the front of sports fans minds.

The only truely free boxing on British TV that you don't need a satellite dish or pay TV subscription to view is KOTV on Channel 4. Even that is tucked away on the schedule at 3am midweek.

So we've now also established that if you spend £15 on a HDMI cable you're also a MUG.

This week they had live interviews with Eddie Hearn and Barry Hearn about Bellew and Chilemba. They showed the weigh-in live and had interviews with Bellew playing on the channel on Friday. Earlier in the week they had interviews with Haye regarding his upcoming fight. Whilst it's not fight footage, it helps keep people informed of what is happening in the boxing scene. You get pretty much nothing about boxing on BBC news or ITV news these days. I'd like to see more boxing coverage on SKY Sportys News however sum is better than none.

I wonder how many of Joe Louis' Mug of the Month club were BN subscribers and HDMI cable over-payers?

However, I do think it's a shame that a lot of boxing is stuck away on a pay channel as it means that it doesn't get the exposure it needs.
This is exactly why I don't subscribe. If this is a success then how do new fans get attracted to the sport? And the house promoter would have to undergo no quality control whatsoever, which in his case has already done much to ruin the game in the last ten years.
