Ring Kings: Boxing Manager game
A new Boxing Manager game is being launched and will hopefully come out next year.
There trying to get investment right now on Kickstarter. Link below:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/121 ... ?ref=email
As a massive fan of Football manager this looks like a boxing version of it.

This looks feckin AWESOME. There was a game called "boxing manager" a few years back and that had me addicted, but it was nothing on this.

£300,000 to launch a computer game ? Surely there's one too many "0"s there ?
Re: Ring Kings: Boxing Manager game
Looks good keep us posted .
Re: Ring Kings: Boxing Manager game
nah thats cheap, i may be being stupid here but surely if your an investor you should get some type of share in the product and return of profits.Black Sam Bellamy wrote:£300,000 to launch a computer game ? Surely there's one too many "0"s there ?

That's not how kickstarter works, think of it more as a donation with a reward than an investment. Some of the projects are great some aren't but the ones which aren't don't tend to get the required funding (so nobody pays a penny).Finn wrote:nah thats cheap, i may be being stupid here but surely if your an investor you should get some type of share in the product and return of profits.Black Sam Bellamy wrote:£300,000 to launch a computer game ? Re: Ring Kings: Boxing Manager game
I've just added my £20 backing, no point wishing it would be made without trying to help it along.
Re: Ring Kings: Boxing Manager game
That game would be awesome! Not sure about donating money. That's a new one! Normally you show your interest by buying it once it comes out. Paying for a game before it has even been made is slightly odd. But I'd happily pay £30 when it was made!

The kickstarter model helps games get made that would never otherwise be made ie, you have a guaranteed return rather than taking a risk on a game that could bomb.winkveron wrote:That game would be awesome! It has been very successful for other games in the past which have garnered a lot of support. I hope this can do the same. It's no significant risk to the people backing as if they reach the target and make the game, then for my £20 I will be sent a copy of the game, if the target is not reached, the £20 will never leave my account.jtourettes wrote:The kickstarter model helps games get made that would never otherwise be made ie, you have a guaranteed return rather than taking a risk on a game that could bomb.winkveron wrote:That game would be awesome! As an aside, it would be interesting if this concept was used to make fights - e.g. if X amount of people pledge to pay for Fury-Price on box-office, then the fight will happen as the purses are guaranteed.....

Don't give them ideas, greedy game developers are already fornicating it up with ideas that could easily get the money elsewhere!doctorboxing wrote:It has been very successful for other games in the past which have garnered a lot of support. ah this makes sense i didnt realise the money didnt leave your account unless they hit the target, and that a steam download was a copy of the game.doctorboxing wrote:It has been very successful for other games in the past which have garnered a lot of support. Re: Ring Kings: Boxing Manager game
so what type of companies can be started as a kickstarter?
Re: Ring Kings: Boxing Manager game
I've donated £40, hope this comes off, only about £450 raised so far though.

Re: Ring Kings: Boxing Manager game
Not a company as such (at least as far as I'm aware) but usually some kind of product.Finn wrote:so what type of companies can be started as a kickstarter?
Re: Ring Kings: Boxing Manager game
No way. Creating a game with the depth that this one is promising is a huge task. Your wording is incorrect as the money is not to "launch" the game (aka promotions/marketing), but to develop the game. Even to make a simple game can take many hours.Black Sam Bellamy wrote:£300,000 to launch a computer game ? Surely there's one too many "0"s there ?
Re: Ring Kings: Boxing Manager game
The guys behind this have told me on Twitter that they have found Kickstarter to be a good learning experience, they plan on taking a much smaller approach, make the game smaller and then relaunch another Kickstarter campaign with a new website and forum, build a community up and make the first release less ambitious and work towards a great game year by year.

Would be a shame as i really liked what they had planned and thus put £20 into the kickstarter , but as things are it doesnt look like kickstarter has worked out for them .Boxingnut wrote:The guys behind this have told me on Twitter that they have found Kickstarter to be a good learning experience, they plan on taking a much smaller approach, make the game smaller and then relaunch another Kickstarter campaign with a new website and forum, build a community up and make the first release less ambitious and work towards a great game year by year.
Personally id rather wait for them to get the funding and still do a proper version rather than a watered down attempt as i think that would probably be damaging long term , people have lost patience with title bout for the very same reason .

Not to be a cock, but shouldn't they have started that way first of all? Kickstarter isn't exactly new to funding game studios. Look at this one for example: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dar ... n?ref=live Very experienced Game developers with clearly defined goals and crucially, not asking for £300k right out of the gate but instead incorporating stretch goals.
Hope they have learnt and comeback with a new idea, and heaven forbid, maybe some kind of promotion campaign.
