Pete Holm, a hwgt who fought out of Minnestota in the late 70's, has what might be a scandinavian name. (they are many in MN).

Peter Holm, is entered as a swedish hwgt 88-88, lost to Istva Levai in Finland, 1988.

Pete Holmes, entered as of Cincinnati, lost to Tom Fischer in Beaver Dam, PA 78-11-11.

QUERY; Could this be the same guy, who maybee tried a comeback in scandinavia, as proboxing is prohibited in Sweden since 1969?

Schiavone's International Boxing Record Book 1989 page 109 states:
Peter Holm (heavyweight) Sweden.
Sept 11-Istvan Levai, Laukaa, FIN...D 8 (Pro Debut).

However, Ballarati's 1989 record book doesn't mention Holm or Levai at all. I'm not sure if this was a "real" fight or some kind of exhibition since neither Holm or Hungarian Olympian Levai fought pro again. (At least not to my knowledge).

A new "scandinavian" bout discovered for Holm. Now, as PETER Holm, USA beat Fausto Constantino, PTS 6, in Copenhagen, DK, 1979-10-11.
Hope one swede or danish editor see this.

Yes, Peter Holm is a heavyweight as his opponent, Fausto Constantino.
I,m wondering if he's the Minnesota hwgt. who was a local prospect and maybee tried a career in scandinavia, as a swede.
Pro boxing was banned in Sweden since 1970-01-01, eller hur.

Pete Holm, who fought 7 fights out of Minnestota 77-79, (80 RRB p.111)
fought 3 fights in Denmark 79-80 as Peter Holm. (81 Pugilato p.128)
Both record books missed the 6 rd loss 2 Lupe Guerra (Feb 79 Ring p.32)
Boxrec has this fight as a 5rd loss.

BTW,
I entered 2 additional fights from the record books.

Question still remains; Is it the same guy attempting a comeback 8 years later in Finland? Is he Swedish or "Swedish-American"?

Anybody have a "relationship" with the Finnish commission to look this up?

Palle , I remember back when I lived in Sweden there was a monthly or quarterly publication about Amateur and Pro boxers from Sweden/Scandinavia that would cover these kind of fightcards. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of it. It used to be available by the checkout counter in stores like ICA or Konsum, etc.
Any Swedish editor know what I'm talking about? Anyways, that could be a possible source for this. Maybe you could contact the "Svenska Proffsboxnings förbundet" they probably have this publication on file.
The opponent Istvan Levai from Hungary is known by Swedes since he was the one that dropped "Lillen" Eklund in the Olympics when we all foolishly though that Eklund was a contender for a medal. I'm quite sure that the fight in Finland would have been covered by this magazine.

We have 3 different P Holm (Holmes) records in the archive wich I suspect could be the same boxer.
Worldwide (Torsten?) - I think you mean "Svensk Boxning" or simply "Boxning". I don't know if it still exist as I moved to Norway 12 years ago. I will check it up, as "boxningsförbundet". I got plans to do it but havn't started yet. There are several other scandinavian connections to call by internet.
Besides, we have two other swedish editors; Thord Lind and Roger Söderberg, but I don't know if they ever watch the Forum.
Blue - Could you please try to find more about Pete Holmes-Tom Fischer, Beaver Dam, PA, 78-11-11. Fischer won by KO 2 and Holmes could be our guy.

I mailed "Svenska Boxningsförbundet" by the chairman, lawyer Björn Rosengren, waiting for an answere. Rosengren keeps on with his legal struggle to re-establish proboxing in Sweden.
Let you know if something comes up.

78-11-11 Tom Fischer KO 2 Pete Holmes, Beaver Dam, PA,
This fight actualy took place at the High School in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. NOT Pennsylvania, so I made the correction. (See Feb. 79 Ring, p.32. & Official Boxing Record Vol.VI-#1 p.19)
This Pete Holmes was listed at 225 lbs. from Cincinatti, Ohio.

What's interesting is that this Pete Holmes has no other bout on his record at boxrec & was not listed in March 79 Ring's special listing of the 1978 active boxers.

Pete Holm WAS listed there on page 55 with a class "D" rating.

As an aside,
I think the Oct. 1, 1983 KO by 3 James McGirt, on Tom Fischer's record is in error.

I will adress this in my following post.

Thanks to our fellow Swedish editor Roger Soderberg, we can exclude the 1988 Peter Holm from speculations about the three listed Holm's beeing the same boxer. This Peter Holm, mentioned above, was a Swedish amateur Champion.
We got two remaining Holm's who could be the same guy, if this could be confirmed or denied by any Danish editor.
