Ricky Burns vs. Juan Diaz

Post by slickvik69 »

What do the Brits thing about this hypothetical matchup? Current lightweight king against the former king who is returning.

Diaz was a great fighter and extremely fit. Late stoppage or UD Diaz

Diaz was a short, walk-in pressure fighter whose punch resistance seemed to be eroding at the tail-end of his career. He's been out for two years (I think).

Horrible fight, aesthetically.

Canny matchmaking if they get him though.

I think it's a possible match with Diaz returning. He wants his belts back and Burns is the top dog now that Broner has bolted.

I think Burns out boxes him now. If it was during Baby Bulls prime then Diaz wins it.

Don't agree he was a great fighter but very very good. The great fighters beat him every time. It's a much better fight than the one they have lined up for Burns that's for sure.

Easy nights work for Burns. Late stoppage or wide points decision.

I remember watching Diaz against Katsidis and JMM twice thinking this guy is getting really hurt. In his last fight he looked like a shot fighter. He got a lot of praise for walking away when he did.

I think Diaz Vs. Rees would be a good fight.
