Who has actually granted him the license? Luxembourg?

Yeah, Collins' best wins were over faded fighters - that can be said about a lot of fighters (Naz, Calzaghe etc).

However, people forget his early career and giving the likes of Mike McCallum a hard night and destroying Chris Pyatt. Collins was a good fighter, yes he capatilised on some great money for some faded fighters - but my belief was that he would have given Nigel and Chris a run for their money at any stage.... and the 2nd fight with Eubank especially wasn't close - the cards were horrible that night.

Having said that - I cannot believe any sane person is giving him a chance against Jones Jnr at this stage. Roy quite recently gave Denis Lebedev a fair old fight untill getting horribly sparked - but was competitive throughout. It could be argued that lebedev is the #1 Cruiser in the world.

Steve aint fought in 17 years..... people say Roy is shot...... well what about Collins he's pushing 50.

If it is scheduled in the UK - it won't happen, unless they go the Luxemburg route.

To be fair to Calzaghe, his best win was Kessler, who was in his physical prime. Lacy also wasn't faded, perhaps not that good, or not as good as we thought, but certainly not faded.

What I meant was in terms of historical significance - Hopkins and Jones were Joe's best wins and both IMO were faded. Kessler when Joe fought him was a better fighter than Jones certainly and possibly Hopkins (thats if you think he legitimately beat Hopkins). However, in terms of all time standing a prime Hopkins and a prime Jones are leagues above Kessler.

I read in the article that they are hoping for a TV deal.
Personally, I'm not against them fighting, but it doesn't ring any bells of being a relevant fight or even a watchable fight.

I still can't see this going ahead no matter how much Collins wants it. It smacks of a mid-life crisis with him desperately wanting the fight at this stage and its sad because if there was one thing with Steve it was that he retired at the right time.

There is simply not enough of a demand to create the money to see this fight happen just like there wasn't enough demand to make it financially viable for Jones back in 2000. Even though it would take a lot less money to get Jones to the table now, who would bankroll an event like this with two men closing in on 50, out side of the UK & Ireland -where it won't happen- the fight means absolutely nothing.

And if the reports of talks Wlodarczyk - Jones are accurate, Roy will definitely take the shot at a title at a weight he has yet to hold a recognised belt.
