what does allegedly need to do?
Re: what does allegedly need to do?
Wasn't one of the 'promises', 2 shows a week? One a month is pretty piss poor, if that is the case.
Re: what does allegedly need to do?
I agree they needs more regular domestic action on allegedly. The Box Academy stuff didn't really work. That being said however the Nathan Cleverly Vs. Robin Krasniqi is due to be a 8 hour televised event. The broadcast starts from 4pm and will run to just short of midnight. 14 televised fights in total according to Buncey. No other broadcaster is putting on 8 hours worth of domestic action this month.whiteboy wrote:they actually seem to be showing LESS domestic action than SKY...
i've paid my tenner a month since it started and i'm in no danger of cancelling, but 1 show a month from the UK is simply not good enough!!
Re: what does allegedly need to do?
To be honest, the amount of quality, overseas main-events shown is more than I expected, and those alone make it worth my £10 per month.
However, the reason I signed up was I thought I'd get to see a lot more domestic bills, in full, much like the first few, free, weeks.
I definitely want to see more UK bills.
Still, it's been here for 18 months now, which is longer than I expected, and I'd miss it if it closed down.

HD and more domestic action would make me happy.
The overseas action they pick up is spot on, hope it continues.

Re: what does allegedly need to do?
Why don't they stage a tournament over a period of weeks, at a tiny location (or studio) with minimal crowd and expense? 8 journeymen fighting 8 rounders. I'd watch that. If the channel is for boxing nerds like us lot, then wouldn't we rather see even fights or undercards with Mr 7-0 facing Mr 2-27?
Re: what does allegedly need to do?
I think it's been great for boxing but would be even better if they filmed some small hall shows and gave the fighters who's not with the big promoters a chance to showcase there talent instead of just showing repeats. allegedly filmed my show in lincoln and was probably as good a show as you will see be nice if they showed highlights of it and you will see what I mean.

I think they just showed Ryan getting stopped on the Bunce hour didnt they Carl?

Well if they are going to the trouble of filming it they might as well stick it on.greavsie wrote:I think it's been great for boxing but would be even better if they filmed some small hall shows and gave the fighters who's not with the big promoters a chance to showcase there talent instead of just showing repeats. I'd probably get it if it didn't have that pillock Bunce on every ten seconds. Every time I see his face, I have to kick my dog.

Yes mate they did that was a cracking fight but unsworth v Truman was better and a small hall classic but don't think they will show it which is a shame.pyenest77 wrote:I think they just showed Ryan getting stopped on the Bunce hour didnt they Carl?

Re: what does allegedly need to do?
I'm not currently a BN subscriber. I was for a year or so until a month ago. My reasons for cancelling the subscription are purely financial. I've had to get rid of Sky Sports & the HD package too, we're going through a bit of a tough patch financially.
As for the content, I think it's well worth the £10 a month for genuine boxing fans; the amount of international shows that feature, both big names like Mayweather and the shows like the ones from China last week, are excellent. In fact some shows on the channel I genuinely wouldn't have known about had it not been for BN showing their card.
My niggles though, are firstly the dearth of domestic action; I understand any promoter isn't going to have a big show every week, even Eddie with his Sky contract doesn't have any more than one a month on average, but to not work with and pick up live feeds from other promoters with small hall shows like the ones Dave Coldwell puts on is absolutely criminal. Ok, I appreciate that the cost of broadcasting is not insignificant, but working with small hall promoters wouldn't cost much, and I suspect most promoters would happily let it be screened for free just to give their stable exposure.
I also really can't understand why there's no HD feed. I know the price of HD broadcasting is high, but I cannot see any way that you run a subscription based station these days without it. I also think if there was an HD feed that there would be an increase in subscribers that would balance out the increased cost.
I also take issue with the lack of news-type shows, with the exception of Bunce's Boxing Hour. I like Steve but at times he really isn't a very good presenter, and his 'patter' with some guests is cringeworthy. I've always felt that Steve is an excellent pundit rather than presenter.
Those gripes are fairly minor though in fairness, a bit like complaining that you can't get a pint of John Smith's in the arena at a live show, it's hardly the main reason you go.
If my financial situation changes anytime soon I would certainly re-subscribe.

Re: what does allegedly need to do?
I agree the card isn't solid from top to bottom but boxing nuts will watch the whole show. The best domestic televised card this month, in my opinion, is the Khan Vs. Diaz card. Again this will be another 5 to 6 hour event. Next months Burns card on SKY featuring Simpson Vs. Choi is the one I'm really looking forward too.leforge wrote:But the bill not very good how many of those fights are worth watching?chad wrote:I agree they needs more regular domestic action on allegedly. Yes they really need to realise Bunce is NOT a decent presenter - in fact he's terrible - and Lillis alongside him makes it even worse.
They will both make excellent studio pundits, but they desperately need a good anchor to continually steer them in the right direction - because without someone like that, the two of them are completely clueless as to how they are coming over. A real pair of loose cannons.
Get Andy Kerr in there for god's sake.

What does allegedly need to do? They need to hire Ratchet Exits Nu!
Re: what does allegedly need to do?
There are already enough international cards, it needs to start putting on better UK cards.
Franks has lost (give up) on a lot of good fighters that could really draw peoples attention ie. Kevin Mitchell draws big crowds with his West Ham F.C. links and can deffo get back onto the world seen and big domestic match-ups.
John Murray is an exciting fighter (where is he!!).
Great young talents like Frank Buglioni and Mitchell Smith need to be out more often.
And ofcourse Nathan Cleverly a World champion fighting people they find hanging around the arena before the shows !
Also building a show up on a channel 3 times is also a killer ! Rule Britannia has been talked about so often and finally it has finished !

Re: what does allegedly need to do?
The picture quality last night was probably the worst I have seen, across any sky channel currently operating.
Coupled with the mono sound and monotone delivery of the commentating , it was just crap.
They might as well stick a £14.99 Logitech webcam on a couple of the corner posts.

Get rid of Bunce & Lillis. It's like having a couple of drunks joining you in your living room.
And never use that freaky 7ft skeleton lookin guy.
The could do with a better production & design team, the whole thign just feels thrown together by amatuers, especially compared to Sky or any of the american networks.

Although it could be expensive, it'd be great if they could strike a deal to show HBO's '24/7' shows leading up to the big US fights
