Hagler v Roldan Fight

Post by Seamus »

Recently watched it after having not seen it in quite some years, and this time I came away with the opinion, if the Hagler v Duran fight convinced Leonard he could beat Marvelous Marvin, this one cinched it. Yes, the knockdown in the 1st minute was bogus, and Hagler was as tough as ever, but the reality was that Marvelous Marvin Hagler simply got hit way too many times by a wild swinging opponent, who was a one eyed fighter from the 3rd round on, and telegraphing some of his punches all the way in from Argentina. Sure Hagler was still more than capable of breaking down anyone who'd stand in front of him and fight a war in the trenches, for a few more years, but no way was this guy going to beat a guy with the speed and durability of Sugar Ray Leonard.

Hagler seems to age very quickly. Maybe he took too many PED's?

What was the scoring at the time of the stoppage?

I was wondering about the scoring myself. I had it 88-84 (6-2-1) for Hagler, but could see others having it closer.

You didn't give Hagler a 10-8 in the third?

Forgot about the knockdown in the 3rd because I wasn't writing it down. I gave Roldan 1-2 and had 4 even. I believe one of the commentators also gave him the 10th.

That was Merchant.
I gave the first two to Roldan and the rest to Hagler.
Perhaps Il Duce can tell us what the cards were.

Thru 9-Rounds

* Yong-Soo Chung........87-83 (Marvin Hagler) = 6-2-1 in Rounds
* Ken Morita................88-84 (Marvin Hagler) = 5-2-2 in Rounds
* Ove Ovessen.............87-83 (Marvin Hagler) = 6-3-0 in Rounds
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yong-Soo Chung scored Round 1 {10-8 for Juan Roldan}
Yong-Soo Chung scored Round 3 {10-8 for Marvin Hagler}
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ken Morita scored Round 3 {10-8 for Marvin Hagler}
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ove Ovessen scored Round 1 {10-8 for Juan Roldan}
Ove Ovessen scored Round 3 {10-8 for Marvin Hagler}
Well done.
:bow:
For some reason those scores aren't on Boxrec.

Wow
I didn't get the meaning of that, either.

Steroid age your organs. Testostrone is an issue if you stop dosing. Look how washed out old body builders like Dorian Yates look now.
