55 minutes in and it's still on about Froch v Kessler.
Whole show tonight was like an hour advert for the PPV.
Even I'm starting to get peeved off with it.

I might be one of very few but i like Johnny Nelson when hes in the studio. He knows what hes talking about and he comes across as a nice bloke. I can think of alot worse people to put in there

Best bit was when they had a open discussion about SMW division of yester year when everyone had a little say
very interesting to say the least I thought

Re: Ringside
Here we go again. Johnny is a good presenter. I see far worse on a regular basis. Surprised the De Leon fight hasn't been brought up again.
Re: Ringside
Yep I personally like Johnny in the studio as well

Ringside has been Kessler Froch since it was announced and will be every week until a few weeks after the fight.ScottDetonator wrote:55 minutes in and it's still on about Froch v Kessler.

Re: Ringside
It is a great fight, but this is way over the top. It is six weeks away, it is not the top two fighters in the division, and while a great fight, the first meeting between the two is slightly overrated. Did Mayweather-Hatton get this much coverage so far out? I can't remember but that was a much bigger fight.

Re: Ringside
its their first show back on ppv so they will force it down our throuts at every opportunity effectivly trying to brainwash us into buying it!
Re: Ringside
I think it was the worse ringside yet did nothing for me at all I only have skyports for the ringside programme and fightnight so was disappointed.
Re: Ringside
Whilst they've been hard selling Kessler/Froch something daft, they have made more of an effort over the last six months or so to show footage of other (non-Sky) fighters/promotions.Hagler2002 wrote:They should rename it 'Matchroom Weekly'
Re: Ringside
I didnt used to like Johnny but to be fair to him I think he's improved a lot since he first started doing the show. I think he's a decent part of the show now.

I like Adam Smit, bit I feel his questions could be better.
Johnny ok by me.
Johnny ok by me.
Re: Ringside
Probably because they have to as would be lacking content otherwise. Either way it's good for the fans.magnus wrote:Whilst they've been hard selling Kessler/Froch something daft, they have made more of an effort over the last six months or so to show footage of other (non-Sky) fighters/promotions.Hagler2002 wrote:They should rename it 'Matchroom Weekly'

Re: Ringside
Surely, Donaire vs Rigondeaux deserved at least a couple of minute slot if the show is truly about the sport of boxing.
They asked Tris one question on it and glossed over it. Seeing Johnny running in lycra or asking Danish people what they thought of Kessler seems far more important...
I bet Adam and co all had a decent discussion on the fight, so why not film it?

Re: Ringside
That's fair enough mate - but that's about production and editing. Remember this thread started as yet another dig at Nelson. He does his job well. He also does what the Producer says.
Re: Ringside
I would imagine that there was a lot of debate before the senior executives on SKY SPORTS agreed to return to PPV. ( why do they choose boxing for PPV ??? ) . Now those arguing for PPV , that is the Ringside editorial team, HAVE to come up with the goods by ensuring thousands take up the programme. I think that is the reason for the tiresome and cynical content for weeks on end on the Ringside show. Personally its hacked me off for weeks.
I hope everybody realises that if the PPV side of the promotion is a success then the 'genies out the bottle ' . Every proposed BIG fight from now on involving Matchroom has the added possibility of PPV being discussed , with any opposition manager from abroad knowing that they can hold out for big money based on PPV sales.
I think that because SKY had abandoned PPV , FW and SKY went their separate ways and we , as the paying public, were delighted. Along came Eddie Hearn and I , for one, thought -great , things have changed for the better !!
NOTHING HAS CHANGED - we're back to where the whole thing started . Boxing fans , not football, golf or tennis fans , are getting ripped off AGAIN !!!!!
I sincerely hope its a PPV disaster. I really want to see the Kessler v Froch fight ,but that little devil on my shoulder hopes Kessler/Froch pull a hamstring muscle a few days before the fight .

Re: Ringside
Whilst I like the visits to training camps, the whole 'this is so tough, I can't keep up' 'oh I'm too old for this' Schtick is
so predictable and they do it every time.....
Change the record. Also, I find it demeaning to Jamie Moore / even Johnny (though he's the worst instigator) as of course they can't keep up, they're retired and not training for a fight.
I love ringside but it's a bit too vanilla, a bit too predictable, cheesy and lacks grit. The presenters all seem to have a permanent shit eating grin on their face.... They must have cramp in their face from grinning, must look like a Heath Ledger party

Re: Ringside
I know he's retired but every time I see Nelson on the pads in one of these training camps he looks very sluggish with a dodgy technique.
Re: Ringside
Smith is awful. McCrory is awful. Nelson is ok.
