Donaire would've gotten the decision if he just threw
more. That is clear. He would've gotten the benefit of the doubt.

Horrendous fight. And I love boxing. I'm sick of guys who won't engage.

i say hold their checks and tell this is boxing, not standing there doing nothing.
make them fight again in a week.

It was a good fight.
Yeah there were some moments of running and inactivity, but this is the high level of boxing where fights like this take place.
Boxers aren't going to commit everything because the counter coming back at them is very important, these guys can be so accurate with counters that you have to be cautious at times.
Overall I enjoyed the contest.

bengulnaci1 wrote:Rigo by 3 rounds seems about right. Not sure why some have the cards so wide. Rigo didn't do much and backed off. Donaire chased and didn't do a whole lot more.
Rigo was far more effective in my opinion. They both did little, but Rigo was landing and making Donaire miss far more than Donaire was landing and making Rigo miss.

I can't see it closer than 8-4 in rounds.

Maybe that's why his work rate has slowly degraded the last few years. I remember him pouring volume on Narvaez when he needed to.

I'd like to see Rigondeaux-Mikey Garcia is GR is interested in moving up, otherwise he'll likely feast on Mijares and Darchinyan among others. Damn shame that Mares, Santa Cruz, and Moreno are all on GBP/Showtime.

I suppose Rgondeaux-Agbeko could be made, and at least Joseph is the type to go out swinging for the fences if he's outclassed the way Donaire was

Neither am I. I might be prejudiced tonight though and I am very disappointed with Nonitos performance. He got a taste of his own medicine tonight and became gunshy early, looking and waiting for a fight changing shot instead of fighting.

Sonny Fiston wrote:Fight wasn't that bad. Commentary was terrible. Even without the action Rigo had the clear advantage in ring generalship during the first half, but when he started running and Donaire wasn't landing, the commentary didn't change. The running cost Rigo some rounds, and they failed to point that out.
which commentary were you watching? HBO's?

Lots of "ifs" in this fight. Donaire could have won more rounds by landing only a few more shots but then if he did he could have been tagged much more. I think a rematch can answer these questions.

Yeah I agree. The only thing I would say is Donaire didnt look as quick tonight as usual and actually looked a bit flat footed! I know some of that is Rigo but I dont know, I just thought Donaire looked a little off the pace.

I thought he didn't use his legs at the beginning and looked stiff overall. He was being too cautious at times and did not establish his distance. Rigo used that as an advantage and outsmarted him throughout the fight.

Yeah Donaire didnt seem to be up on his toes like he should of been and is usually. Rigo is a special talent though!
