Frank "the Animal" Fletcher.

Post by zuru »

Fletcher was another exciting guy to watch. If you seen him, chances are you'll remember. His swollen, bleeding eyes, wide southpaw punches,& street brawling style,I loved watching him.Like when Hardrock Green was beating him, when the Animal rallies back to cut him, and corner him, raining down punches until the ref stops it.Or his war with Clint "the Executioner" Jackson.Jackson was an amateur sensation, and a solid promising pro,who warred with Fletcher, but couldn't tame the Animal. Many good fights from Fletcher.

Fletcher's Mom would always be at the fights, everyone. And as I recall she would be animated and screaming through the whole bout.

The Animal was in line for a title shot with Hagler but he lost to Wilford Scypion and Scypion got the shot instead. Scypion was one of those hit and hold fighters that could make you look bad, the Animal couldn't solve his style and was never the same after that fight. I remember hoping the Animal would win that fight because although chances are he would have been KO'D, by Hagler it would have been an entertaining matchup.

I remeber after the Scypion loss she was looking to fight someone, I believe it was the judges she wanted to get at. I remeber she had to be restrained, and that it took more than one person to do it. I know I would not have wanted the job of security.

Another good Muguibi knockout was when he knocked Curtis parker out of the ring.

Ahhh Frank Fletcher, I loved him...he was tough inside and outside of the ring. I wonder if he is still in prison, I know they were talking about letting his brother out.

Thats my favourite KO of all time.

I think Marv Albert was masturbating while he watched the fight.

Another good KO, probably my all time favorite was when Hagler KO'D Loucif Hamani. It was right after Hagler, Antifurmo 1. Hagler was coming of of a contriversial draw in a fight that I thought was all Hagler. Anyway Hagler was determined from that point on to keep the fight out of the hands of the judges. In the second round Hagler caught Hamani with a combination and from what I saw Hamani was completly knocked out. However rather than falling to the canvas, he fell against the ropes so the way Hagler saw it their was no knockdown since the ropes were holding Hamani almost upright. The referee was out of position so he could not get between the two fighters in time. So Hagler continued to administrer a savage beating to a man who appeared to have already been knocked out. Hamani was knocked out of the ring, which might have saved him severe injury. Didn't have to worry about that one being put in the hands of the judges.
