I'll start, then:

Nelson against Sanchez (the obvious one)
Pedroza against Zamora at Bantam
Sahaprom against Konadu

Not like Harry Greb getting KO'd in one of his early bouts, where neither fighter was highly touted at the time. More along the lines of the bouts I named.

Not exactly what I'm looking for. He'd been fighting 5 years and was already a notable champion.

Eusebio Pedroza vs Alfonso Zamora
Nigel Benn vs Michael Watson
Carl Thompson vs Crawford Ashley (this one is more for British fans, tbh)
Buster Douglas vs Tony Tucker
Joe Louis vs Max Schelling
Ezzard Charles vs Jersey Joe Walcott
Archie Moore vs Ezzard Charles

Leonard against Camacho could've been another, bengulnaci. Why didn't you mention it? Or how about Moore/Ali?

If he hadn't been fighting 5 years and a notable champion, the KO wouldn't have been high profile. It's an oxy moron.

Well, if we are going to be sacarsti about it, from your picks, Nelson was hardly high profile at that time, so going by your own criteria, that discounts him.

As for mine, Benn vs Watson and Moore vs Charles probably come closest to what your asking (though you appear to be confusing yourself and the point of this thread).

Nelson was an unknown fighting one of the best fighters in the world. That's high profile enough. He just means that the guy who was knocked out by a big name, wasn't yet established and later turned out to be great.

Though in your defense it's not the easiest examples to think of and high profile was probably not the proper verbiage.

Even though he was old, I think Olivares icing Ramirez should count.

Ok, gotcha. Could have worded it a bit differently to make clearer, as you say. However 'tis cool. I shall muse and return :TU:

Arce/Carbajal.
S Martinez/Margarito

Edit- Scrap the second one, they were both unknown. This is a tough thread. :TU:

Would Julian Jackson/Mike McCallum...and then later Jackson vs Terry Norris fit this category?

I'm not sure exactly how big Jackson or Norris' profiles were prior to being knocked out in these fights, but they both undoubtedly went on to bigger and better things after these losses.

If I was judging I'd say definitely yes for Jackson/Mccallum and probably not for Norris/Jackson. Then again I might be missing the early in their career portion. He didn't really say they had to be unproven. It could be the complete opposite.

That's fair. Solid example, too. The fighter in question didn't necessarily have to have turned out "great", as it's a very subjective term, but had to have went on to do big things.

mm, I was thinking Bobby Chacon getting stopped by Olivares and going on to be what he became

maybe Little Red getting stopped by Chacon, too.

Was going to say Lopez getting his bubble burst by Chacon.

Lopez stopped O'Grady early on but don't think O'Grady was any sort of name then, given his propensity for fighting carefully managed fighters at home.
