I don't know, it wouldn't shock me at all if Audley avoided the telegraphed rights & did a Tony Thompson on this fellow.
I hope your right, I used my £50 free bet from paddy power on Audley to win at 11/2, if he wins by any means I pick up £275 pure profit !
I honestly believe if he sees it to round 5 it's his :yay:

The good thing about that it we literally don't know what he's like beyond 3 round. In all his amatuer and pro fights he's never fough past 15 minutes. He could be no better than Lee Swarby or Muhammad Ali for all we know, it's literally unknown terratory. He might have got so confident (I hope) that he's only trained for a 3 round fight

Interestingly, I notice Wilder was down against Harold Sconiers, who had been reduced to cannon fodder 10 years ago.

Does anybody have any information about that KD?

That's a very interesting, and possibly worrying sign.

Now, here we go:

Wilder down hard against Sconiers?

Sounds like Wilder must be extremely fragile, which completely explains his match making so far.

That being said, Price has the same issue but Audley never got into that one, it could easily happen again.

The plot thickens though.

scheduled over 10 rounds this one......I'm going to stick my neck out here and say Audley Harrison will win this fight by Unanimous decision and show some nuts getting in there with an (albeit crude) big hitter, after his various blow-outs in the past.

I also predict it will not be the prettiest or most entertaining fight of the night, but entertaining in it's own way.

Personally watching 2 huge blokes who are lesser lights for whatever reason take wild swings at each other til one hits his jackpot does not do it for me at all! I'd rather see an actual boxing match!

I'll post you all my review of the evening at about midnight next week :box:

also why is Khan fighting over the championship distance with no title on the line? Not even any Intercontinental alphabet spaghetti? Don't see that very often, am just wondering why 12 full rounds and was that at the insistence of any party/ body in particular?

So tree trunk legs increase punch resistance to the chin do they? Moron. Did you recieve an education?

Of course leg strength is indicative of a good chin. The nerves running through the chin are supported firstly by the neck and then secondly by the core strength of the body. Ever heard the phrase "Shook him to his boots". Ever been hit on the whiskers? If you had you'll feel the strength sap from your core and your legs turn to rubber. Stronger legs increase the ability to walk through this feeling. Look at Naz's legs, Tyson's legs, Guerrero's legs, etc, etc. :box:

Have to say I had no idea that he had been decked in his career, that really is worrying considering he has faced nothing but dross so far. I mean people say Audley's chin is bad but the guys Audley has been stopped by, even Sprotty, would beat every guy Wilder has faced with the most contemptuous of ease.

well, in answer to your question I think the American will try and tighten it up a little bit in this fight as it sounds like Harrison is by far his best oppo to date, he'll still throw bombs however. I think after the first 3 rounds both of them will be absolutely knackered but Wilder will be more knackered than Harrison. I think the American's power shots will dry up the tireder he gets and from this point on I expect Audley to use his smarts, not to mention his jab to keep Wilder at bay. I think Audley takes over the fight quite comfortably and in the middle rounds it will look a matter of time before Audley gets him out of there, briefly, after this however I expect Audley to revert to type and just do enough to see him home. I'm predicting very wide margins to Audley. It's a dangerous thing to hang around with somebody like Wilder when you can probably get the job done but I just suspect that Audley will get cautious and seek not to get into exchanges, whereas for me that's the wrong tactic as it will give Wilder more confidence to come and get in his face. 6, 7 and 8 rounds on the judges cards for me (unless it's referee scoring).

Plenty of granite chins were held up by skinny legs. Just as plenty of glass chins have been carried by men with huge hulking tree trunk legs.

Granite chins have come in all shapes and sizes.

Chaps, you may want to watch this: Wilder vs Dustin Nicholls

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gUlfI5VlZuY

To my eyes it looked like Wilder was floored by a 5'9 400 lb+ taxi driver :OhYes:

Audley, for all his flaws, is a quantum leap beyond anyone Wilder has faced to date.

The bookies rarely get it wrong but I think they have in this case!

For me the most entertaining moment of Audley's career (in a positive sense at least) was the volley of punches he threw to get rid of that Diaz fellow in America a few years back. It was shown the same night the beeb set up that hilarious trans atlantic phone call between Audley and Danny Williams, alongside Buncey and Inverdale.

Doesn't look like a genuine KD to me.

The report of the Sconiers KD sounds ominous indeed however.

I remember that. A flashy showing from Audley, albeit against a club fighter. The most impressed I have been of Audley is when he fought Quinn Navarre, putting together a blistering finishing combo like it was his job! Can I find that fight anywhere? Can I fig!

Audley put on some his most relaxed, impressive peformances in the US.

Nix, Navarre, Diaz, Wiggins, Davis.... He does well over there. The audience is free of anti-Audley bias and it seems to be a weight of his shoulders.

I think it actually was the Diaz ko you were thinking of. THe Diaz combo that he put him down with was extremely quick and explosive whereas the Nix one off the top of my head was a bit more measured with Nix swaying about from one shot then copping another a few seconds later when he left an opening and then another etc until he went down.

On that flash knockdown that someone posted I don't think you can take anything from that. It was clearly a result of him being off balance rather than being hurt. But as someone else said the genuine knockdown he suffered where he apparently was nearly put away has to be a concern.

The Diaz kayo was a highly impressive and brutal combination assault, a lower level Dokes/Gardner type finish.

Navarre I believe was a one punch kayo, Nix as I recall bashed about by a couple of well chosen shots - I think Audley's footwork was very good in these fights. Are they not on YouTube? I remember taping them, I should put them up if I can figure out how. Also the tapes are in another house about 200 miles away, which hinders my ambition.

The Diaz and Nix fights aren't on youtube no. At that time and against that level of opponent Audley was doing ok and was aggressive, from the time he went to America for the first time for that series of 3 fights against Diaz, Nix and before that someone who I don't remember off the top of my head (can't be arsed to look through the records) to when he beat Richel Hersisia he was actually doing fine offensively. But then for some reason against Julius Francis he didn't want to do anything despite Francis probably being less of a threat (at that point in his career Julius hardly ever threw punches) than Hersisia. Then he fought Bonin and at times looked class but then took long breaks, it was weird.

I still remember an interview he did with the BBC, specifically with Ronald Macintosh, this would between beating Nix and facing Hersisia and Audley said specifically they were lining up a fight for the Southern area heavyweight title. Macintosh said 'the southern area champ is Michael Sprott, are you going to be facing him next then?' and the inference seemed to be from his reply that it wouldn't be Sprott but would be someone else. I'm fairly sure the plan was to face Julius Francis for the southern area title and then aim for Williams or Sprott who would face off for the British title again for a third time. Then that plan all fell to shit when Mr Warren signed Williams, Sprott and signed up Julius Francis to face Matt Skelton.

I'v obviously no hard evidence on that but piecing everything together that's a theory I have on that period of Audley's career. As it was Skelton for some reason got patted on the back for a bore fest against Francis and Audley about 3 months later got slated for doing exactly the same thing.

Skelton wasn't an Olympic champion with a wealth of amateur experience behind him. Plus wasn't Francis a late sub for the Audley fight and not seemingly up for it. I remember him talking a good fight vs Skelton.

I was getting the Diaz KO and the Shawn Robinson KO mixed up. Shawn Robinson was the clubfighter that Danny Williams downed with three uppercuts and a right hand, then Audley stopped him with one punch.

I remember the Diaz KO now I think. Yes, one of Audley's very best finishes.

God, we're actually talking about our favourite Audley knockouts vs bums.

Nevertheless, FIND THOSE TAPES! This thread shall live on, long after Audley is wiped out in one round by Deontay Wilder.

Audley never ceases to amaze. Today he is suggesting he's getting better with age and he was amazing in Prizefighter.

Where will it end? If he beats Wilder does he get a world ranking?

If he loses does he win Prizefighter again? If so, he's likely to end up on the canvas simply getting dizzy going round in circles.

He was lighter than ever in Prizefighter. Maybe he is at his physical best now.
