Good on Purdy I say, if he can keep swinging that big overhand right all night then who knows against southpaw Alexander? whilst a huge gulf in levels it worked on Craig Watson.

He's got little to zero chance if Alexander digs in safe behind that rapier jab - but all said and done he will have a try and is a big welter.

Exactly. And Gomez I think you're being a bit too hopeful, but like I said, he's been offered a life changing opportunity he'd be a fool not to take it. Good luck to him and credit to Hearn for managing to get him in there.

Gutted for Kell but a seriously good opportunity for Purdy. Very tough fight for him and a massive step up in class but fair play to him gotta take these opportunities when the present themselves. Think Devon Alexander will know too much for Purdy though, too quick and clever and can see a wide points victory for "The Great" but you never know ;)

I don't care if he is English, it is a horrendous match. Purdy was schooled by Colin Lynes FFS. Obviously, I don't blame Purdy, but this is going to look terrible on us. Rees, Jennings and Lockett at least were the top boys domestically when they got there chance.

I think all the Brits going over for it, are pleased another Brit has been found with 4 weeks notice.

It's better than Devon not fighting at all, or some 40-12 journeyman over 10 rds.

And I guess in terms of his career it's just a "bonus" fight. If he wins, however unlikely, it will of course be amazing. If he loses he probably won't lose his standing or reputation so can just pick up where he was before.

I think both Lockett and Jennings were considered number one Brits. Lockett had fended off the likes of Ryan Rhodes, and Jennings was yet to be supplanted by Brook.
