Nope still here! :)
Nah, you left long ago. I read it. You were too damn good to talk to Rahman 'fans'. On the plus side, we have a few more fighters besides Sanders to add to the Rahman owns me club. :TU:

I am still literally staggered that the sputtering, damp squib that was Rahman actually has a fan club! Literally amazed!

Why would you be surprised? You started the club yourself. Rahman was better than Sanders, it doesn't take a fan club to see that. It's factual.

 i was rooting for SC but your post is particularly hilarious on the basis it was pretty much just sheer size which got Fury the KO.

I'm quite aware of the irony. I laughed myself. I like Fury, he's entertaining in and out of the ring.

He reminds me of Khan the way he's percieved in the UK, not liked much at all with much being made of their ethnic backgrounds. The general public will never miss a Khan or Fury fight in order to root against them.

It's their personalities that turn people off more than their ethnicities, mate.

i said much is made of their ethnic backgrounds, which is fair comment. There's been plenty of threads in British & irish section fo this forum which have descended into race-rows in discussion of Khan and the gypo banter comes out for Fury.

I like Floyd as a champion and personality. He was certainly more skilled than the Sniper. But he had the tendency to get decked early and at times even KO"d. He was also a good bit smaller than sanders and in this era, size would have kept him out of the heavyweight division. A 6'4", 220 lbs southpaw with fast hands and a lot of power and quick starting ability would have been a nasty cocktail for Patterson.

Not a mainstream view I know, but you can't deny Johnny was a similar size, was more durable (although granted he didn't fight as many 14/15 stoners as Floyd, and was as fast. Johnny had skills too. Hardly that far out! Lol

Is this thread to be resurrected annually in order to gauge the progress of Polecateddy's learning?

Using Johnny Nelson as a point of comparison with Floyd Patterson once again demonstrates how all of Eddy's thinking is dictated by size, stats, tales of the tape, numbers, ratios - the abstract concept of studying skills, of analysing actual in the ring performances, never seems to enter his unusual mind.

Bert Cooper was the same size as Joe Frazier and Mike Tyson. He was even a puncher! I suppose he must have been of comparable talent. Chris Byrd often weighed the same as a peak Mike Tyson. Too bad he must have held back on that awesome punch power he surely possessed as they both weighed the same and if you weigh the same as someone you naturally share all the same strengths & weaknesses. Etc etc, forever.

So technically you're saying that Floyd was a better fighter than Johnny because he punched harder? Bert Cooper was never a championship level fighter and Byrd (ironically) probably would have beaten Floyd. I'm not actually stating that Johnny Nelson would have beaten Floyd Patterson ...just for the record. I was really just pointing out how difficult it is to separate their actual physical abilities and I suppose dimensions. As I said it not like Johnny wasn't a similar size, skilled, had decent endurance, etc. Punch power obviously not, but he was more awkward.

Mainstream? What on earth are you on about now.

Your post was gold only because it definitively shows you up as a nonsense, a troll. fornicate me, if it's not Carl Thompson and Marciano it's Floyd P and Jonny effing Nelson. It's absurd man but ultimately hilarious when you froth at the mouth defending yourself. Carry on.

To those with a functioning brain; If I remember correctly didn't Ali say Floyd Patterson was a very hard puncher?
