I like big Fury but here's the thing. I think he beat Cunningham simply because he was bigger. No other reason. Fury was 6 inches taller and 3 stones heavier.
What would we think if we had a farcical match- up between Nathan Cleverley and Ricky Burns ?? After all Cleverley is around 5 inches taller and 3 stones heavier. If Burns flattened Cleverley in round 2 and he came back to knock Burns out in the 7th ,would Cleverley be getting any praise ? This is what worries me. I think either Klitschko would destroy Tyson, and sadly after this performance so would Price and possibly even Haye who punches harder than Cunningham.
But Fury's having a great time ,and earning money, while the party lasts . Good luck to him.

I understand where you're coming from, but it's a flawed analogy IMO as the higher up the weight classes you go, the less an advantage you have through outweighing an opponent.
I don't see Fury making it all the way to the top, but you have to have a bit more about you to secure that type of win than simply a weight advantage.

Thats heavyweight boxing for you which is part of its charm . fury in my opinion was caught more out of wrecklessness than anything else which can easily be corrected. He would lose to Haye and the Klitschkos but then so would everyone else in the division.

He just mauled, wrestled, nutted and held while punching to win. It was a dirty John Ruiz style performance full of cheating and spoiling.

Smaller and similar sized guys than Cunningham would have had the pop to flatten Fury.

I still think Price would take Fury out if he believed in himself and was sent out with the right game plan.
Does either party actually even want that fight any more? I suspect Fury and his team think they don't need it, however I think it would be worth taking as he would mature more and be better placed to face a top fighter if he won. However if it's a case that the Klitschkos may not longer be about he should go after them while they're around.
I personally can't see either Klitschko retiring before facing off against Fury as there'd be a bloody good pay day in it (although granted, one neither of them needs) and they are both better. I think Wladimir would beat him pretty easily going by his totally domination of Haye.

I was impressed with him last night, he used his size and strength to overpower his opponent because he knew that would work and so it proved. If he fought safety first and boxed his way to a points win behind the jab you could still argue he only won because of physical advantages.
As for haye, price and klits they may well beat fury but I don't think Tyson will leave his chin out to dry against them.

Fury fought a poor fight early on and I think a lot of that was down to poor advice from his corner. Like I said in one of the 17 threads that we have on the same subject last night, had Fury's uncle been in the corner he would have given Tyson a rollicking after round 1 and told him to get his hands up and box off the 1-2 and work the combos off of that. Had he done that then he wouldn't have had his lead hand by his waist and got caught by that overhand right that put him down. Not saying he wouldn't have taken a single punch had his Uncle been in the corner but he wouldn't have been put down meaning he would have been getting less criticism.

I also think some of the arguments in here are a bit ridiculous. 'If Price took that shot etc' 'Fury gets up.' If the Fury fans in here think Fury has the edge on Price in every department then they are living in a fantasy World. Fury has the edge on heart, chin and recovery and a huge edge on experience and with Price's fitness being untested we can probably say an edge on fitness and workrate too. But I think Price's tequnique both offensively and defensively is better and Price's power is way higher in my opinion. I think if Price had landed the same kinda shot on Fury then there would be no Fury getting up, and I don't think Price would leave himself wide open to those looping right hands.

Time will tell and Price and Fury aren't going to be fighting anytime soon but trying to slope the poor aspects of Fury's performance by shrugging your shoulders and saying 'durrrrr Price would have been knocked out' isn't exactly a way to justify anything. Fury is gonna be in with Pulev or the Arreola v Stiverne winner next so talking about Price is irrelevant because those guys don't have Price's frailties.

Really looking forward to the next 6 months of Tyson Fury's career. Hopefully he can do it.

It's nothing to do with being over-rated or under-rated, they are just words and that is all subjective opinion. All you have to do is look at the style of the two men. Look at the attributes of both men and you will see that Fury has holes in his technique, both defensively and in offence that are as wide as channell tunnell. Fury was wide open at least eight to ten times a round last night. I wish you luck fella, but betting on Fury in a fight with Haye is going see you with empty pockets. The two guys are in different class levels.

I don't care about the weight difference when its at heavy. It was just a fun fight to watch and Cunningham gave it a good go, much respect to him. The Fury journey is going to be an exciting ride and he showed very brief flashes of what he is capable of.

I don't think Fury was at all hurt by the punch, it was just his pride.

He was squared-on, feet together and arms by his waist. It was very sloppy.

His uncle has been great for him, and his absence last night proved this.

Haye vs Fury would do big numbers indeed. Very big numbers.
