Steve USS Cunningham Interview
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2X7NfUd ... e=youtu.be
Seems that Steve USS Cunningham is more than a tad upset with having lost to Fury, and is more than irate if anyone so much as says Fury beats him fair and square. This is a clip from one of the biggest meltdowns in Internet boxing radio history which happened last night. BTW, Cunningham is also filing a lawsuit and petition to the New York State Athletic Commission to over turn the decision (as he claims Fury used many illegal tactics in the fight) and is wanting the referee to be punished.

Re: Steve USS Cunningham Interview
On the issue of the forearm, i don't have a huge issue with it, just how 'clean' can a 'fight' be? But tbf to Cunningham, it was a damn site more illegal than Dawson-Hopkins 1 yet the comission overturned that.
Re: Steve USS Cunningham Interview
That was pretty funny
I agree with what Steve as saying in terms of your going to criticism him then atleast get the facts right! What I would say though is I admire the guy for saying what he thought and not kissing cunninghams ass like a lot of these radio interviews seem to do.

yeah but if you're going to be critical about a fighter, especially one who just got 1-punch ko'd, then at least have a bit of respect. This moron was just straight up ignorant and insulting.

Kiss my mother fornicating *something I can't make out* balls.

Re: Steve USS Cunningham Interview
I agree with that. I would say it goes both ways though. For instance Cunningham used the stereotypical insult of you're just a fan, you dont know shit, blah, blah, blah! It bugs me when you get certain fighters who say unless you've been a pro at something you cant have an opinion on something! Last time I looked, Emanuel Steward had never had any professional fights and yet a lot people wouldnt of doubted his credentials. Also the funny thing about this interview is the guy who criticised Cunningham was a professional fighter! Admittedly by all accounts not a very good one but one none the less.desperados wrote:columbo wrote:What I would say though is I admire the guy for saying what he thought and not kissing cunninghams ass like a lot of these radio interviews seem to do.

Yeah but Cunningham wasn't saying he wasn't going to listen to the opinion of a fan, or discuss the fight with a fan, and all fans know nothing. Infact he was taking time out of his day to give these fans and pundits an interview for their show. He was saying he wasn't going to be insulted by someone who just sits on their ass and watches fights while he's the one in the ring fighting 6'9 giants, and rightly so.
You can apply the same etiquitte to whatever your profession is. I'm a web designer for instance, if someone who is a fan of webdesign or has interest in web design, or even someone with an interest in photography & post-production imaging - wanted to discuss with me, a professional, i'll happily discuss opinions, techniques, hear criticisms of what they like/don't like. But if they started just insulting my work and being rude then i'd deffo have revert to having a Steve Cunningham attitude of "well let's see what you do then? How much money have global brands paid you to such work?".
Re: Steve USS Cunningham Interview
Thats fair enough I admit. The guy Cunningham was having it out with was a pro fighter though. Did you hear the other guy on the line say something about the guy cunningham being pissed off being knocked out by J'leon love?desperados wrote:columbo wrote:I agree with that. You made a complete and utter fool of yourself there Rufus. If you'd have been face to face with Steve you'd have been kissing his arse.

Re: Steve USS Cunningham Interview
Cunningham says he will appeal, citing Fury's forearm that set up the fight-ending right hook:

http://www.badlefthook.com/2013/4/22/42 ... oxing-news
On his Twitter account today, Steve "USS" Cunningham has been very vocal about his feelings regarding his KO loss to Tyson Fury this past Saturday, and noted that he does plan to appeal the loss with the New York State Athletic Commission.
Cunningham (25-6, 12 KO) is citing -- as many critics, pundits, fans, and people with eyes have done -- the illegal tactics used by Fury in the fight, in particular the left forearm to Cunningham's face that set up Fury's final blow, a big right hand that put Cunningham down for the count.

Re: Steve USS Cunningham Interview
It was all in show on my end. It was part of an act, and some of it was real. My opinions were real, but the tone, the attitude, etc was the act. Had we all just sang koombaya and held hands and kissed Steve's ass it would have made for a boring interview. Out of this, we get to see a side of Steve Cunningham I dont think anyone else has ever seen. Don't take it too personal, I was originally in the pro wrestling business and was just playing the heel. HOWEVER, I think what I proved in a sense, is if a little nothing peon like myself could get Cunningham infuriated, its really no wonder how Fury got inside his head and eventually knocked him out.Tomasino wrote:HomicideHenry wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2X7NfUd ... e=youtu.be

Re: Steve USS Cunningham Interview
The interviewer is unnecessarily rude to Cunningham but Fury did nothing exceptional. Cunningham is not doing himself any favours with this bleating. Fury was dominating him and the end was nigh forearm or no forearm

Re: Steve USS Cunningham Interview
Cunningham was right to complain - during the boxing match Cunningham was knocking Fury down, hurting him and outpointing him. During the dirty wrestling match he was mauled and hit and held into losing.
It was a repulsive performance from Fury.

Re: Steve USS Cunningham Interview
must be a lot of little stations up and down the place in America, that was beneath Steve being on there really.
Got one thing right though it was a right hook not a left hook dick head!
He should offer a few dollars for American Jimmy brown pants's address..

Re: Steve USS Cunningham Interview
I agree with the sentiment of the interview - but the way he got his point over was hostile and lacked a bit of respect.
You can't argue with the way Steve responded. It obviously riled the guy.

Re: Steve USS Cunningham Interview
so you were deliberately ignorant and rude to the guy for kicks and despite putting Fury on the seat of his pants heavily, you think Fury "got inside his head" which made Steve get knocked out? Nothing to do with becoming exhausted and trying to fend off a huge fella that's mauling you? That's complete garbage.HomicideHenry wrote:It was all in show on my end. What a car crash of an 'interview'. Anyway, it can't be disputed that Fury set up the winning punch with a forearm.

Re: Steve USS Cunningham Interview
When you look at the J D Chapman thread it adds a bit to the rancidity of the interview style.
Re: Steve USS Cunningham Interview
If cunningham didnt want to get into the ring with the big boys he should have stayed at CW. Wlad, Vitali, Lennox all lean or leaned on their opponents it was pretty much a steward tactic. What did cunningham think was going to happen, its his own fault for not moving in and out of range he was sat on tysons chest for a lot of the fight hoping to get some short right hooks in.

I thought so too. Was getting texts from folk in the pubs saying what a diddy he looked and how dirty he was. I did feel USS should have just ran a bit more and tired Fury out before going for the overhand right but it must have been tough in there with that big sweaty thing draped over you. Anyway I hope Fury can learn a bit from the fight but who knows.

LOL @ dirty tactics when Cuntingham was landing rabbit punches all night and not getting warned.Tomasino wrote:loaded_gloves wrote:Cunningham was right to complain - during the boxing match Cunningham was knocking Fury down, hurting him and outpointing him. Lets be fair , fury had him and the ref against him in there , just like Lennox did when he fought Iron mike, it was Eddie Cotton that reffed that fight to and Cotton was against Lewis like he was Fury.
Lets see how long Cunningham will last in a British ring, with a britsih ref against Fury in a return
Dont bitch about size when your fighting in the heaviest division ,and as fans dont bitch about forearms when greats like Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson used their forearms all their career to mesure them up before landing a big right.
fornicate the yank i say and his Bias ref ....if you dont believe me about the ref go watch him ref Lewis v Tyson .

It's got nothing to do with believing you. I thought the ref helped fury by giving him a couple of timeouts.
I and quite a few others thought it was very sloppy and dirty, you don't, so end of. I think Peter Fury would agree that it was a shite performance. I also think Steve used poor tactics that didn't really suit him. Hopefully onwards and upwards for Fury.
