TYSON FURY Spoiler
Re: TYSON FURY Spoiler
Haye could get caught out with is chin and stamina issues but I feel if Fury pressures him to give himself a chance in this way, he will be too big a target and not defensively cute enough, so that the Londoner will get to him first.

I doubt he is better in every way.
Chin... yes, probably. Both have been KO'd on account of being gassed. Haye took some full blooded shots from Wlad though and took them well. Stamina yes, not that Cunningham has stamina issues, but Hayes doesn't either and he's a fair bit younger. Throw heavyweight experience in there too, Hayes been in the division for over 5 years. Cunningham got his ass handed to him in his last 2 fights at cruiser.

I think Haye does have stamina issues, he looked gassed against Chisora pretty early ondesperados wrote:Horse wrote:Better reach? Better chin? Better stamina?desperados wrote:Younger, faster, hard hitter, stronger, ....better in every way?

Re: TYSON FURY Spoiler
I'd like to see Haye in with Cunningham now, it would be a decent match of styles. It's a fight that could/should have happened at cruiser.
Cunningham is a skilled guy, he's not just not a big heavyweight and got out-muscled.

Re: TYSON FURY Spoiler
I just watched the full fight for the first time, and I didn't see some things that other posters described.
I do not think Fury was in desperate trouble after the knockdown; he had his head up watching the ref immediately, and as soon as the ref came to him with the count, he was up without a wobble. Certainly it took him time to get back into it, but he looked fine immediately. However, that was a light punching cruiser. In that situation, Haye is knocking him out, Pulev is knocking him out, if Price lands first, he's knocking him out too.
Thereafter, a much smaller man outworks him comfortably; Tyson goes on doing what I've always seen him do; bumbling in and looking clumsy.
Come the 5th and 6th, other people have been saying Tyson looked gassed, but I don't see that at all. I thought he showed much better stamina than in the past, and that it was Cunningham who was gradually slowing. It didn't look like a big turnaround when he got the KO; I had him well behind on points, but the fight had been heading inexorably in that direction for several rounds. He was smart, because he could not in a million years outbox or outwork Cunningham, so tucking up and laying on him (was that why people thought he was gassed?) was the best thing he could do. I thought he could have been penalised several more times than he was, and I'm astonished he got away with holding Cunningham's head with the elbow like that, but honestly, there's no way Cunningham was going to go 12.
I think Fury is a tough guy, and brave, but I still don't think he can box a lick, and that a big, live opponent is going to take him out. I don't see him lasting the distance against Banks, Pulev, either Klitschko, Haye; almost anyone in the top 20 could potentially derail him. Price would be an absolute crap shoot; whoever lands a full blooded right first is winning that one. I could even see Audley beating him. It's gonna be fun while it lasts though :)

Re: TYSON FURY Spoiler
Right, lets explain this in a very succint manner. Johnson was a punch bag, didnt try and just sat there doing nothing, hence why Fury could do what he wanted.keithmoonhangover wrote:Did you watch the Johnson fight?SamWise72 wrote:I just watched the full fight for the first time, and I didn't see some things that other posters described.

Listen, I like Tyson, in some ways he's a breath of fresh air. But, the facts are he is simply a big man who is massively open to right hands.
Haye cleans his clock and does so early doors.

Re: TYSON FURY Spoiler
The Johnson argument is so irrelevant. Fury boxed well in that fight but Johnson threw so few power punches. Thank god there weren't any HBO style punchstats. I'd be amazed if Johnson got into double figures for power punches thrown in a round in any of the rounds.Wrists wrote:Right, lets explain this in a very succint manner. If Cunningham had thrown that few power shots a round then it would have been an easy UD for Fury again.
Re: TYSON FURY Spoiler
Yeah, I did. He looked better, for sure, but Johnson was just absolutely stationery. It was like a bag workout. He tried to do the same thing against Cunningham, and got himself flattened. You watch Pulev against guys like Dimitrenko and Ustinov, and tell me Fury's going to have success that way against him; he flatters to deceive against Johnson because it's no more than a spar, really. Cunningham was trying to win, comfortably outboxed and outworked him and knocked him down; someone close to his own size and with decent skills is going to make Tyson hurt all night.keithmoonhangover wrote:Did you watch the Johnson fight?SamWise72 wrote:I just watched the full fight for the first time, and I didn't see some things that other posters described.

I'm really looking forward to the Pulev fight though, because Pulev doesn't tend to dominate; he's calm and patient, he moves and jabs well and keeps his workrate up, and of course Fury has a huge heart and will never stop trying. I think what we'll see is Fury barely win a round, but push harder and harder as he did against Cunningham; the difference is, against Pulev, Fury will be the one getting tired, and a tired Fury trying hard to take someone out guarantees excitement.
Re: TYSON FURY Spoiler
I also took the opportunity to watch Hughie, and my my, I was VERY impressed. Looks better than Tyson already! Need to see what his chin is like, and how he does under more pressure, but he looks much more like someone I can get behind (in terms of believing he can go to the top, rather than just cheering for him!)
Re: TYSON FURY Spoiler
Obv Hughie needs to show he can live the life(looks heavy at mo) and he will need to show his chin and heart etc, but I think he is a real talent, the best prospect coming out of Britain at the moment, and I'm very excited about his future.
His amateur pedigree is outstanding, and he is still so young, huge potential.

Re: TYSON FURY Spoiler
He looks a little heavy, but not as heavy as Tyson does after supposedly a period of properly living the life! I agree, how he develops will be critical, but blimey he's starting from a high base.
