JAMES TONEY/LUCAS BROWNE RESULT
Great, 12 more rounds of getting hit in the head. Hope he now retires and finds a new way to make a living.
From fightnews:
In his biggest test to date, unbeaten 6’5 heavyweight Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne (16-0, 14 KOs) scored a twelve round unanimous decision over 44-year-old former multi-division world champion James Toney (74-8-3, 45 KOs) on Sunday afternoon at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Browne was the busier of the two with his long jab, mosting avoiding exchanges with the rotund Toney. Toney looked done in the final round, but Browne was content to coast to a 117-111, 119-109, 120-108 victory.
Former world heavyweight title challenger Kevin “Kingpin” Johnson (29-3-1, 19 KOs) outclassed Solomon Haumono (20-2-2, 18 KOs), schooling him before stopping him in round ten.

Sadly Toney has money troubles so I doubt this is even his last fight, He looks in terrible condition. Sad.

Make Toney-Hopkins at cruiser. Great press conference. Awful fight.Craigyid14 wrote:Sadly Toney has money troubles so I doubt this is even his last fight, He looks in terrible condition. Sad.

Do you think Toney will ever make Cruiser again?WayoftheCass wrote:Make Toney-Hopkins at cruiser. Great press conference. Awful fight.Craigyid14 wrote:Sadly Toney has money troubles so I doubt this is even his last fight, He looks in terrible condition. Sad.

Re: JAMES TONEY/LUCAS BROWNE RESULT
I remember that fight was nearly made years ago at cruiser. Pundits were making Toney the favourite, but in retrospect I'm sure Hopkins would have come through.Craigyid14 wrote:Do you think Toney will ever make Cruiser again?WayoftheCass wrote:Make Toney-Hopkins at cruiser. Re: JAMES TONEY/LUCAS BROWNE RESULT
Toney made cruiserweight about 18 months ago, so he could probably do it again.Craigyid14 wrote:Do you think Toney will ever make Cruiser again?

I doubt that he's nearly 46
Re: JAMES TONEY/LUCAS BROWNE RESULT
It was only 18 months ago though. What has changed?Craigyid14 wrote:I doubt that he's nearly 46
Re: JAMES TONEY/LUCAS BROWNE RESULT
He could probably still fight Hopkins at catchweight.Horse wrote:It was only 18 months ago though. What has changed?Craigyid14 wrote:I doubt that he's nearly 46

I think Hopkins has bigger fish to fry really. And he's defending his title not doing dodgy catch-weights.

Sad to see. Amazing that at 44 year old he can still survive 12 rounds against an unbeaten puncher like Browne.

The 2nd time Kevin Johnson has gone over to oz and beaten a home town fighter - does that make furys absolute shut out even more impressive?

A little bit, but neither of the Aussie heavyweights were international class. I'm sure he could do Browne too given half a chance.warriorbox wrote:The 2nd time Kevin Johnson has gone over to oz and beaten a home town fighter - does that make furys absolute shut out even more impressive?

Browne is just a bumbling oaf though, seriously doubt his 'power' is a factor if and when he steps up in class.ShadrachSimmo wrote:Sad to see. Amazing that at 44 year old he can still survive 12 rounds against an unbeaten puncher like Browne.

Re: JAMES TONEY/LUCAS BROWNE RESULT
No chance they let that happen. This will be another Shame Cameron project. Anything resembling a prime fighter will be avoided until a big payday and inevitable savage knockout defeat is suffered. Manufacturing a 'big' domestic showdown with Sonny Bill Williams could be another Australian 'super-fight' where the fighters get fortunes to contest the international cycling heavyweight championship of the world and the Ozzie public think they're watching something great an important. Danny Green can fight Chris Pyatt or John Mugabi on the undercard!!!polecateddy wrote:A little bit, but neither of the Aussie heavyweights were international class. James Toney reminds me of 'The Belly' from the "Belly's Gonna Get Ya", Reebok adverts from about 2006!
The belly definitely got him!!

He had a foray into UFC, thinking it was a fried chicken related organisation like KFC.Syntax Error wrote:James Toney reminds me of 'The Belly' from the "Belly's Gonna Get Ya", Reebok adverts from about 2006!![]()

He said before the fight, that he was in great shape. As usually Toney talks complete bollocks. He'll go on calling out Dave Gay and the Bitchkos and end up losing more fights to obscure prospects from around the world.Syntax Error wrote:James Toney reminds me of 'The Belly' from the "Belly's Gonna Get Ya", Reebok adverts from about 2006!![]()

Shame to see one of the most skilled artisans of my lifetime reduced to this.
