I think we saw the very best of Kessler in Herning, especially with an absolutely rammed Danish crowd behind him - against a version of Froch that could have done things so much better.

This time around, Froch won't be making the same errors, will have the UK fans behind him and really does want to prove a point.

There are always wild cards like a cut, a freak knockout shot or something - but all things being equal then you'd have to favour Carl to do the business.

Kessler will go down fighting though.

What mistakes do you think Carl made in the first fight mate?
do you reckon they'll throw the kitchen sink early on as they are both riding on the waves of TKO's.
Or are we going to see a measured attack form one (or both) geared to bank the rounds

Indeed, ask 15 Danes and it would be 15-0 Kessler
Actually, Froch is a bigger favourite in Denmark than in Britain.

When the fight was first announced, the Danish odds for a Froch victory was set at 1.70... but has since fallen to 1.52! In Denmark only the most die-hard Kessler fans believe he has a better than even chance this time.
Why? Is the general opinion that Kessler has declined since their first fight? Or have Froch's recent performances impressed more than Kessler's ?

I think after a torrid few opening rounds, Carl turned the tide and then shortly after stood back admiring his work allowing kessler to get his momentum back - and the fight continued in the same vein to the final bell. It was entertaining, macho stuff but lacked a bit of thought.

I expect Carl to get on top and stay on top this time.

He definitely needs to take baby steps forward instead of backwards during the rounds, as Kessler is less effective, as he gets leverage when stepping in and winging punches, than he would do going slightly backwards.

Good points, I've need to re-watch the first fight.

'If he fights like last time, no problem - I won that fight.'

In Denmark Kessler is seen as being pretty much near the end of the road! He hasn't really looked good in years, and of the two Froch (though the older man by almost 2 years) seems to have "aged" much better. In fact, he looks as strong as ever... and coupled with a burning desire to avenge the defeat from 3 years ago, he'll probably be too much of a handful for the Dane this time around. I will be VERY surprised if Kessler wins this rematch - but not the least bit surprised, if Froch is able to stop him!

A few of the guys I spoke to for the poll were torn on this fight. I won't say who but on another day they would've went the other way. I've not spoke to many in the trade in UK, Europe or America who are picking Kessler.

Froch with a very late stoppage for me.

I think where Froch went "wrong" last time, to a certain extent, was throwing single shots. He wobbled, hurt and pushed Kessler back numerous times but let him back into the fight because they weren't followed up.

Obviously boxing isn't that simple and there are many factors but I'd expect Froch to address this, and in fact he has done it several times since that fight. The same way that he didn't really jab much in fights, he proved that he could do it so well against Abraham. Naturally, if you're a matador you need a bull to look good against and to a degree that is why it worked so well, but he's shown he isn't one dimensional and can adapt.

I don't think we saw the best Kessler in Denmark for fight 1. Think Kessler was past his best back then.... whether it was Joe who aged him or Andre Ward I'm not sure.... but the Kessler who fought in Herring and since isn't the same as the Kessler who smashed Marcus Beyer etc.

Thought so , Kessler is the clear underdog . Pressure is on Carl to do it in style.

Cheers, do you think the Bute destruction, and subsequent walk over of Mack has created and aura of infallibility of Froch?

I remember Carl looking stunned too, not sure what round.
Froch says Ward can't knock a skin off a rice pudding but I'm sure he was looking stunned/overwhelmed in that fight. Ward finished Dawson very well.

Yes, Kessler apparently hits as hard as ever - but I just don't see him putting a dent in Froch's chin.

I believe, that Froch will be much more aggressive than in their first fight - where he, strangely, let Kessler take the initiative. He surely won't be making that mistake again, and I see him taking the fight to the Dane right from the start. Seeing how close their first fight was, and with Kessler a further 3 years past his prime... I can only think that, on home soil, Froch should be the obvious winner.

It was a very bitter interview with Carl regarding Ward in BM. His mask slipped a little... I thought he looked genuinely troubled and surprised by Ward's strength and power right from the start in their bout. He said Ward can't sell a ticket but not long ago was slagging him off for always boxing in Oakland! He also said he wont get any recognition for a long time. Really? He is generally regarded as the number 2 p4p fighter in the world and the undisputed 12st champion! He also wont earn anything, apparently. Did he get less than Carl for their bout? And what did he get for taking on Dawson?

Yeah I thought it bitter and not quite truthful because he definitely looked stunned against Ward and has commented on how deceptively strong he was then I thought Carl could already looking past Kessler and preemptively banging the drum for a re-match with Ward by slating him.
