The Sturm fight has apparently been changed to a NC, and Soliman has been suspended for 9 months by the BDB. Soliman is also refusing to have the B sample opened up in the labratory in which the A sample was checked.

Re: Solimon b sample negative. Bring on Geale
Guys, check out the new article on Fightnews. It would appears Sam had permission from the IBF to split the B sample and have it tested outside germany. he did this and the B sample come back negative( if you believe what is in the article).
The remainder of the B sample in germany has not been opened. IF the IBF gave the go ahead, then surely they must recognise the B sample as it was opened in Germany and not place any sanctions against Sam. This would enable Sam v Geale to go ahead. What the BDB do and however many months Sam cannot fight in Germany should be irrelelvant when it comes to the IBF World Title........IF YOU CAN BELIEVE THE ARTICLE ON FIGHT NEWS !!....sorry I can do a link.Sweet P can you place one on ??

Re: Solimon b sample negative. Bring on Geale
I am hearing Geale vs Darren Barker is on as a voluntary defence, here in Australia.
I don't understand how a B sample can be split in Germany, without opening the sample...

Re: Solimon b sample negative. Bring on Geale
At the end of the day Sam has admitted to using a illegal substance, who really cares what happens now. It's safe to say he's blown his chance.
Re: Solimon b sample negative. Bring on Geale
not illegal according to the contract rules for the fight though apparently.
that's the main point of the argument.

Re: Solimon b sample negative. Bring on Geale
His argument is that it is not a prohibited substance in the IBF rules.

My understanding of this is Sam has been cleared by the IBF but not the BDB which means he can fight anywhere he wants except Germany for 9 months.

Re: Solimon b sample negative. Bring on Geale
I dont think the IBF have cleared him yet - “The splitting of the B sample, which we are waiting on the paperwork in the next 48 hours, will show that there has been absolutely no breach of any of the IBF rules by Sam Soliman,” Stanley said.
“We have an IBF contract which Thomas Putz, the president from the BDB signed, as did IBF Championship Committee chairman Lindsey Tucker and it lists the substances to be screened for and this substance is not on the contract.”
I think the coloured text above indicates that:
a) sam did test positive to the substance BDB suspended him for;
b) the B sample tested in the US also showed the substance the BDB detected, but Sam's camp say its not on the IBF list of banned substances so the test is 'clear'.

Re: Solimon b sample negative. Bring on Geale
Looks like it will go ahead. I really hope so anyway. The IBF had ordered current champion Daniel Geale (29-1, 15 KOs) to make a mandatory defense against Soliman.
Re: Solimon b sample negative. Bring on Geale
I am hearing that the split B sample that team Soliman had tested in the states was not tested for oxilofrine, hence the clear (negative) result. Now the reason that oxilofrine was not tested for, is because team Soliman believe that the IBF doesn't expressly list it as a banned substance. Where the confusion comes in is that the IBF rules state that all synthetic and not naturally occurring stimulants are banned substances.
I am no expert, and am only passing on information second hand, but this situation sucks for Sam, sucks for Felix and sucks for Geale. What a mess.
Geale could potentially end up getting burnt, as I am of the understanding that he has a contract with an opponent, but the IBF could now enforce his mandatory first.![[icon_witsend.gif] :witzend:](./images/smilies/icon_witsend.gif)

Re: Solimon b sample negative. Bring on Geale
The IBF have already granted him a pass to defend against a optional oppoent so i doubt they will pull that back.
Sam will be next in line after that, if he gets the IBF on side with his story. The problem he will have is that the US testing centre was not WADA acccredited (apparently). So by the sound of it, the second testing centre in the US was just an independant centre that tested for what Sam's camp told them to test for.

Re: Solimon b sample negative. Bring on Geale
I am pretty sure we will be seeing Darren Barker coming for a trip to Australia soon
Re: Solimon b sample negative. Bring on Geale
Darren Barker, that would be a good stoush. i hopoe so for Geales sake. He needs to get a fight and let all this crap with Sammy get sorted out.

Hope that is the outcome. Barker has only lost to Martinez. We don't get too many Pommy fighters as smart as Barker visit here.Stinger wrote:I am pretty sure we will be seeing Darren Barker coming for a trip to Australia soon
Re: Solimon b sample negative. Bring on Geale
Geale v Barker would be a great match up. Looking forward to it if it comes off. Geale will most probably win this, but it will be a very hard nights work.TrainInsane wrote:Hope that is the outcome.
