I have a problem with this "a good portion of the fight" language. If something's prohibited, it's prohibited. You can't do it. How long you do it for doesn't matter if the activity is forbidden by rule.
Or does the rule allow it only for a certain portion of the fight?

Maybe there's some rule prohibiting a fighter from holding a fist in his opponent's face. (He wasn't holding Pianeta with it, right?) I've never heard of that. I've heard many times that you can't measure somebody with an open glove.

Maybe he thinks it is. Apparently the ref didn't. AFAIK you can put your fist wherever you want as long as you don't hold your opponent or hit him in an illegal area.

Who cares if it seems fair or right, it doesn't break the rules. So your calls for the ref to do something should be directed at the athletic commission because the ref isn't going to call it.

What are you, a robot? You sound like a German bureaucrat with all this crap about rules and regulations.

I, as a fan, do care very much about how fighters conduct themselves in the ring. If a guy is spoiling, he should be warned by the ref, end of story. It's not fitting behaviour for a champion to hold his arm out like that, and you don't need a rule book to tell you that.

Oh, but it's okay for a challenger?
What relevance does his being a champion have?
Yeah, rules are important. That's what the ref's there to do--enforce rules. Where is it stated a champion should be treated differently in terms of referee treatment?

Again, your problem is with the athletic commission not the ref.
