Brock & Tua to meet January 2006

If both Tua & Brock win their next fights they are going to face each other in January 2006.

Will Brock have the chin to withstand a Tua bomb ???

Will Brock simply outbox Tua at range ???

Has Tua anything left in the old tank ???

Interesting fight if you ask me.

Sounds like a very interesting one. I fancy Brock on points.

I can't understand why there aren't shedloads of pick'em matchups like that. The possibilities are endless and would really rejuvenate an ailing heavyweight scene. And defeat rarely means the end, as the likes of Williamson, McCline, McCall and Brewster can attest.

Why would any fighter risk a fight if it isn't in an eliminator - thats the feeling from fighters and managers - hence we miss all the decent match ups. SO NO TUA-BROCK WON'T HAPPEN

He was just shy of 18 stone for his last outing one can only hope in this next fight his weight is going in the right direction. Im glad there is another limeted but exciting fighter out there in the HW devision. Wasn't the talk of Brok Harrison not so long ago it would be good to see Harrison vs the winner if the williams fight marks a start of a seriouse level of competition at this stage

I also back Brock on points, Tua is too one dimensional these days, he just steamrollers forward and throws the left hook. I think this fight happens if Tua beats Salif and Brock gets past David Bostice.

I wouldn't expect Brock to pull a Wlad. I like Calvin, but I'd bet he gets caught.

Saw Tua's last fight and he was awful, he was losing against the poor guy before pulling out of the bag in the last (on my card).

However, Brock's been shaken up vs Etteine and versus McLine so Tua certainly has the power to KO Brock.

I also think if Tua is to beat anybody in the top ten nowadays, stylistically the best match for him is Brock. Brock hasn't a huge reach and prefers to fight on the front foot himself.

Tua's return to the ring is just a token gesture of the piss poor era we find ourselves in, it doesn't take a rocket science to work out there is an opening for a reasonable fighter with good conditioning and a bit of heart, that's why we have guys like Brock and Brewster at the forefront and good luck to them.

Tua comes in looking like a beached whale throwing manic left hooks until he eventually catches something. What happened to the trimmed Heavyweight that fought it out with Ibeabuchi? The controlled destruction of John Ruiz? Tua needs to get back to basics, get into shape and start using his skills to win fights because otherwise it is just going to be another painful viewing experience for us all.

Bare in mind Tua went upto 330lbs in his time off - him getting down to 260 is pretty good - although 230 is ideal. To lose weight they put him in baths of pure ice - the human body burns allot of energy to keep warm in freezing temps. Tuas body looks shot but maybe he can rekindle some of the old qualities - hes hardly taken beatings in his career.

Tua needs to persue Wlad - a prime Tua connects with Wlad at some stage and kos him into next week.

The judge that scored for Salif was watching a totally different fight then the fight I saw and even the commentators complained. Salif got hammered from the 4th round on. After a slow start Tua then stepped it up and won each round from then on. He attacked the body better then I have ever seen from him before Salif looked ready to go near the end of the fight. Tua showed good stamina and the fight will stand him in good stead for the proposed Brock fight in January.

Was about to right about this. The manner of this defeat (and most reports are saying it was as one sided as the judges saw it) surely makes it a contendor for upset of the year.

Remember McCline ran Chris Byrd and Calvin Brock very very close recently.
