Kessler sparring with Groves, Cleverly and Skoglund
Kessler sparring with Groves, Cleverly and Skoglund
Kessler will be sparring with the 3 aforementioned undefeated boxers in preparation for his fight with Carl Froch.
I'm not sure what help Cleverly will be with his style and limited power. What are your thoughts?

Re: Kessler sparring with Groves, Cleverly and Skoglund
Cleverly's workrate, engine and combination punching is similar to Carl's.

Re: Kessler sparring with Groves, Cleverly and Skoglund
that is some tough sparring. I would like to hear how it has been going, especially for Cleverly
Re: Kessler sparring with Groves, Cleverly and Skoglund
I would say Cleverly's hand speed is superior and I'm sure he will give Kessler a great workout. Furthermore, his workrate is indeed very high (arguably higher than Carl's). However, his power is in sharp contrast to Carl's.Benelio wrote:Cleverly's workrate, engine and combination punching is similar to Carl's.
Nevertheless the contrasting styles of Groves, Skoglund and Cleverly may provide the ideal mix.

Some good observations you make. Certainly a contrast between Groves and Clev. Don't know much about Skoglund at all.The Law wrote:I would say Cleverly's hand speed is superior and I'm sure he will give Kessler a great workout. I wonder who is helping Froch in this department?

Surely Groves sparring Kessler is a conflict of interest with him and Carl being under the same promoter?

Re: Kessler sparring with Groves, Cleverly and Skoglund
Kessler is going to beat Froch.
Re: Kessler sparring with Groves, Cleverly and Skoglund
Allegedly did initially suggest that Groves only joined Matchroom on a 2 fight deal. Groves has boxed twice since he left Allegedly .... This raises some interesting questions.Dirk Kelly wrote:Surely Groves sparring Kessler is a conflict of interest with him and Carl being under the same promoter?
Re: Kessler sparring with Groves, Cleverly and Skoglund
would love to Kessler and Groves going at it! Would be very interesting i think.
Re: Kessler sparring with Groves, Cleverly and Skoglund
Good luck to 'em all.
Kessler has stated if he gets beaten, he will 100% retire.
That's immense pressure, plus sparring people who want to do their absolute best against him = burn out ?
By contrast, Froch has been practically in fighting shape since after the Mack fight. Besides a total chill-out holiday in Dubai, he has kept his engine tip top.
Plus his little girl was born a few days ago, that's nicely out of the way and he will be looking at doing the business for his own redemption and for his new little girl. He won't find any better motivation that gaining revenge and doing it for his little family.
Whereas Kessler has what, a motorbike. Bit different really to children.

Re: Kessler sparring with Groves, Cleverly and Skoglund
Was on a radio show with Rocky Fielding last week and he was asked to spend eight weeks with Kessler.
Shortly after, he was called up and was told that the deal was off because he was a Matchroom fighter. Rocky insisted he was professional enough not to reveal any details and that he desperately wanted the experience of sharing a ring with Kessler.

i dont see what difference it would make anyway to be honest as Kessler isnt going to of radically changed his style since the first fight.Chris W 1982 wrote:Was on a radio show with Rocky Fielding last week and he was asked to spend eight weeks with Kessler.

You never know what might happen during sparring, though. Injuries, etc.columbo wrote:i dont see what difference it would make anyway to be honest as Kessler isnt going to of radically changed his style since the first fight.Chris W 1982 wrote:Was on a radio show with Rocky Fielding last week and he was asked to spend eight weeks with Kessler.

Can't believe he was over here - would loved to have bumped into the Cobra!G0mez wrote:Froch has been practically in fighting shape since after the Mack fight. Besides a total chill-out holiday in Dubai, he has kept his engine tip top.

Madinat Jumeriah villa section I think, next to Mina a Salam. Its a massive area as you know. Ive been myself and it's mint. I think between there and the old Mirage is where most celebs go. Or at least used to..

He's a mossad agent. He was involved in a big operation a few years ago if you recall ;;-)jessi wrote:Deserter what do you do in Dubai ? Mate, I'm not joking when I say that's my 'local', as I live 10 mins walk away! This place is moving all the time in terms of what's 'hot', but Madinat is one of the few ever-constants.G0mez wrote:Deserter wrote:Can't believe he was over here - would loved to have bumped into the Cobra!G0mez wrote:Froch has been practically in fighting shape since after the Mack fight. Blimey, that's some quality sparring for all parties involved. I wonder if Carl has been on the blower to Groves asking him to stick a few good ones on him in preparation !

not sure what froch's arrangement with matchroom is, either. The Law wrote:Allegedly did initially suggest that Groves only joined Matchroom on a 2 fight deal. groves is fighting on the undercard, too, so it's all a mix.
are they going to pull someone off a barstool to fight ochieng?
it's only 18 days away and he has no replacement for the early
kaddour withdrawl, yet.
Re: Kessler sparring with Groves, Cleverly and Skoglund
Thats one way of spinning it. You say "burnt out" others say "tough, top, competitive sparring = best preperation". Baby could quite easily be as big a distraction as a motivation. These things work in different ways for different people. Maybe having another child will make Carl contemplate not wanting to fight. Who knows.G0mez wrote:Good luck to 'em all.

Re: Kessler sparring with Groves, Cleverly and Skoglund
I dont think Froch and Groves really get on anymore. They seemed to have a bit of a war of words not that long ago after groves said he'd like a shot at froch. I remember that when Groves was at the beginning of his career, he sparred Froch and Froch dropped him.Final round wrote:Blimey, that's some quality sparring for all parties involved.
