Bruno hadn't achieved more at all lmfao? One lucky win after two attempts at the title , then cacked his pants and didnt even try against a washed up Tyson? Don't talk rubbish, and yes Tyson was way past his best in 89 watch the fight. Haye would wipe the floor with Bruno your all looking at the past through rose tinted spectacles

Absolutely Haye is a far classier fighter than Bruno I don't buy the eighties as a golden age of heavyweight boxing either -yes you had Tyson and larry Holmes but otherwise there weren't many special fighters-certainly not many nearly as good as the Klitschkos in a supposedly poor era for the big fellas.

Frank was probably already suffering mental illness by the time of the second Tyson fight. What was Hayes excuse, his toe? Haye is unproven as a heavyweight.

Regarding previous British HW's, I'm not suggesting Bruno is the greatest British Heavyweight but I think he's not getting the respect he deserves here. The guy had serious power which overshadows the memory of some solid boxing skills. His failing was his inability to relax during a fight, his muscles just weren't loose and at that weight he struggled in later rounds because of said tightness. Watch the fight with Lennox, his jab and closing of the ring were excellent, he was outboxing the boxer and even ahead on the scorecards until..
Also look at the shots he took from Lennox,Tyson etc. Not once did you see him out cold from one early punch, he was only stopped after the oppopnent had knocked the granny out of him with numerous hard blows, due usually to him blowing out of stamina. You never saw him do a Price v Thompson. I'd certainly have him in the British top ten and give him a chance against any of them. However my choice of todays has to be Haye, with Fury last! And my personal fave after Lennox was Gary Mason. Extremely underrated fighter and trouble for anyone.

Mason was tough as old boots.

Not sure people are doing Bruno a disservice as such. He is a top British heavy. Him and Haye would have been a cracking match up, prime for prime.

Bruno had a great jab, Haye showed against Klit how much he struggled to get past a big guys jab, I pick Bruno would get to him before he ran out of steam and got tagged instead.

Listen , Bruno was far too one dimensional to beat Haye.

I disagree, but we will never know. I thought Valuev was about as one dimensional as you can get, and he very nearly beat Haye.

A good jab ( an old school good jab not the modern one which apparently the likes of Price and Fury have ) and serious power is enough dimension to be in with a shot of beating Haye.

I think Haye probably would have too much variety for Bruno, but if Big Frank established that barn door jab, then David would be in deep trouble. I think Bruno and Mason would have been close, as would Bruno and Akinwande. I always felt it a big shame his match with Ray Mercer fell through. That and the Herbie Hide/Tommy Morrison fight would have been value. I suspect Mercer might have stopped Big Frank late, but you never know.

I can't see on what basis a bloke who got tanked by the ghost of Carl Thompson is going to beat a man who outboxed Lewis and Witherspoon and could punch harder than anyone Haye has faced. I'd see Haye going down hard in this one.

I was reading through the latest posts on this thread and thought the same thing - Mercer / Bruno would have been a cracking fight, a motivated Mercer would give any heavyweight in history a tough night imo, and if he turned up motivated against Bruno (or Haye for that matter) I could see him winning in the later rounds.
The Hide / Morrison fight should of happened when Hide beat Bentt and it would have been over very quickly, probably with Morrison winning I think, both fighters seemed to lack any motivation to train hard for fights, and I always felt with Morrison, his chin wasn't the issue, his partying outside the ring stopped him achieving more and ultimately caught up with him in the worse way possible.

This, not to mention getting knocked down against Mormeck. People say it's because he boxed the wrong fight and was weight drained, but not too long after he unified the division, so weight wasn't the issue.

Bruno was a monster, punched like a cannon, and could box. And he didn't get nervous fighting cruiserweights!

Is Fury proven as a heavyweight?

I know that has nothing to do with Bruno/Haye etc but I notice you rate Fury. Do you think he is proven as a heavyweight and Haye isn't?

What relevance does that have? Who has Haye beaten who's better than Coetzee or Williams? Three of Bruno's defeats were to men who many place in all time heavyweight top 10's, one of Haye's was to a very washed up former cruiserweight champ. Haye is good, but he would not have been a champion in the era that Bruno fought in; can you imagine what McCall would do to Haye? Jesse Ferguson had taken Mercer to an absolute squeaker (most people think Ferguson won), and Bruno took him out in 1 round in his next fight. James Tillis in shape would have boxed the ears off Ruiz, and he was in shape for Bruno. I don't want to say Bruno would have beaten Wlad, but he would have tried, and either flattened him or gone out on his shield, where Haye surrendered. To make out Haye is a class above Bruno at heavyweight is nonsense.

Bruno and Price are quite similar, I think Bruno is more durable and became a much better boxer than price is now due to experience at a much higher level but Price does remind me of Big Frank a lot in terms of style and power and character.

Touch of nostalgia at play here.

I reckon Bruno Haye would be a cracking fight, Frank had balls the size of melons, as has Haye. They definitely wouldn't have swerved each other.

Just think Haye would come in nice and light and stay on his bike to get a wideish points win. If he opted to stand and trade like last summer then fight is much closer - both hit like mules

Christ knows! To say Haye is unproven but Fury is, is like saying Spurs are proven in the Champions League but Chelsea aren't
