Big knockouts from weak-fisted boxers
We all know about the historic knockouts from the punchers in boxing. But what about the guys who can't punch? What are some good fights where the guy with less power got the KO?
One that sticks out in my mind is Ishida-Kirkland from 2 years ago.

Ishida wrecked Kirkland
. One that comes to my mind is Whitaker`s unlikely 11th round knockout of Hurtado who was clearly ahead: http://youtu.be/MF2FChh84_0?t=42m51s . I forgot an obvious one; Sven Ottke couldn`t crack an egg but somehow he br00tally stopped Anthony Mundine: http://youtu.be/D3zb1zOTw9M?t=41m33s .

Benitez' one punch KO of Mo Hope to win the JM belt!
As soon as it landed, Wilfredo new it was lights out and just stood there posing like, 'don't bother sending me to the neutral corner, he ain't getting up'...

Michael Nunn's one punch ko over Kalambay was shocking.

Notorious non-puncher Henry Clark's first round knockout of Candy Slim Jeff Merritt
Barney Ross KO2 over Baby Joe Gans
Joe Bugner KO1 Richard Dunn (I know Dunn had a glass jaw and Bugner had some pop when he sat down on his shots, but no-one expected him to go in and just tear Dunn apart like he did)
Jimmy Young's comeback stoppage of Wendall Bailey

Douglas over Tyson has to be included.
As shocking as the Braddock win over Baer was....(and it's the only fight in history that comes close) He never came close to putting out Baer's lights.

Bentt/Morrison.
Re: Big knockouts from weak-fisted boxers
Peden/Campbell I, even though a lot of it had to do with Nate's stupidity. You just can't do what he did in that fight.
Re: Big knockouts from weak-fisted boxers
Sven Ottke´s one punch kayo of Anthony Mundine.

Good call. I had seen about 10 Benitez fights by then and didn't think he could knock out his mom with a punch. That was a shocker.boxbible wrote:Benitez' one punch KO of Mo Hope to win the JM belt!

Buster Douglas does not belong in this discussion, he certainly had good power.

If that was his calling card, I retract my thought.

Can't believe the Ref gave Mundine the full 10 count.

Ottke was sandbaggin' his entire career. He performed that trick one time and one time only as a demonstration of his power. He later retired when felt his power was an unfair advantage in the ring when facing any mortal.
Joe Calzaghe, Roy Jones, Darius M, Bernard H....were indeed all very lucky that Sven possessed such self restraint.

Philip Holiday v Fenech as well. Holiday never looked like any kind of puncher before or afterwards.meade95 wrote:Calvin Grove KO of Fenech was a shocker....One punch KO.
Re: Big knockouts from weak-fisted boxers
Years earlier a peak Fenech wouldn't have flinched at Grove or Holiday's punches. But I suppose that's the point...not a peak Fenech
Re: Big knockouts from weak-fisted boxers
Ali's "KO" of Liston in the rematch.

The one that came from the "grassy knoll"?
Re: Big knockouts from weak-fisted boxers
Agreed, without a doubt. Prime Fenech had great chin! Still remember getting up to read (after the fight results in USA Today) and being stunned that Fenech was stopped by Grove.bollox wrote:Years earlier a peak Fenech wouldn't have flinched at Grove or Holiday's punches. Hector Camacho KOing the legendary Sugar Ray Leonard.
Even though it was the last fight of Sugar's career, it must have been an embarassing way to go out. Hector never showed power against elite fighters, especially after the Rosario fight. I'm sure Hector was selected as an opponent because of his lack of power.
