James J Braddock VS Lee Savold...
James J Braddock im sure all of you know who is...against lee savold. the british heavyweight champion of the 40s and late 30's. I thought of this fight after i watched Lee savold take on Joe louis in a bout in 1951. I figured that since lee savold was KO in the 6 and braddock was in the 8th against louis, that they were somewhat comparable in their fights against louis. louis dominated pretty much haha. so who do you guys think wins this fight?

Re: James J Braddock VS Lee Savold...
Well I've never actually seen tape of Savold, but the fact that Louis disposed of him in 6 rounds when he was a shell of a shell of his former self...and it took Louis 8 rounds to beat Braddock when Louis was basically in his prime...I'd say based only off of textual (not visual) knowledge of Savold that Braddock would win...of course, styles make fights, and it's possible that Savold would have been better suited against Braddock than against Louis.Rory McCloskey wrote:James J Braddock im sure all of you know who is...against lee savold. the british heavyweight champion of the 40s and late 30's. savold was a tough contender who had decent boxing skills, he fought a long 17 year career he was a top contender during the 40s, and beat some legite contenders. savold stopped lou nova twice, decisioneed joe baski, gus dorazio, tony musto, solly kreiger, and fought the likes of buddy baer, arturo godoy, billy conn, elmer ray, joe louis, rocky marciano. savold also lost two close decisions to tami muariello knocking tami down twice.
savold made his most recognitiion, when BBC world heavyweight champion bruce woodcock was the heavy favorite to beat savold, but savold upset woodcock knoicking him out in the 4th round. then the 36 year old vertean fought a old past his prime joe louis and louis was still very dangerous and knocked out savold in 6 rounds. savolds last fight was a one sided beating at the hands of rocky marciano. savold took such a beasting for 6 rounds that the press called it "the worst beating of savolds 17 years of boxing." savold retired in his corner after the 6th.
i think braddock wins this. savold seemed to have trouble with guys with braddock styles. and bradock at 6'3 78" reach would outbox savold IMO, but i defintely dont think he stops him.
