WONDERFUL PIC: TYSON & ALI

Post by loaded_gloves »

So much for Ali being on his last legs. How about this?

What an incredible pair. What thrills they brought heavyweight boxing, when the world was watching.

i don't think he's so bad, he's on twitter, well, his wife operates the account. When the rumours hit the papers he was on his last legs she posted a pic of him in his Ravens jersey ready for the superbowl.

Long live the GREATEST.

Ali is 70 now, and although we know isn't in good health he still looks pretty for his age.

I agree that he was one of the greatest boxers in history, however I disagree with the bit about being the greatest "man" in history.

Because of his ability in his chosen sport, a lot of other aspects to his character have been brushed under the carpet.

Obviously Muhammad is frail, but even so can still see the glint in his eyes and the hint of a smile!

Ali imo is probably the most famous mortal man to walk the earth. Even today years after his illness silenced him, he's still so well known to so many people of all different generations!

Had Ali not been laid low by Parkinson's its my belief he'd have made boxing beneath only football in terms of popularity. He'd have been such an ambassador for the sport. Such an ironic tragedy that a man who loved to talk as much as Muhammad cannot speak anymore, but his greatness will never be silenced!

That's a great picture and lovely to see Mike looking so happy, Hopefully he's found a lasting peace!

He had an amazing character. Sure he said some racist stuff, particularly in one of his Parkinson interviews, but he was young and you have to understand his upbringing. I wonder how anyone would react after winnign a gold medal for their country then couldnt get served a cheese burger because they were black. Guys like Malcolm X also filled him with some extremely powerful propaganda against the white man, and alot of it was truthful. Ali once spoke in an interview about how rich other cultures were (he was a smart guy), he spoke of Irish names having their O'Conners and Murphies, the chinese having there Langs and Chins, etc.... yet the African-American people are named after the family whom owned them as slaves, hence why he originally changed his name to Cassius X. It's hard to imagine how having such a heritage and living a life of being treated like a dog that can't eat in resteraunts does to a young mans mindset. But Ali changed with the times, he was a peaceful progressive man who became intent on using his fame for good.
