Khan is losing it.

Does he genuinely believe stepping up will strengthen his chin? Can he honestly be this deluded? The answer is yes.

I'll give him 2 years and he wont have a career. The next KO defeat will be his last.

Just my opinion mate, he's changed numerous trainers and still ends up with more or less the same results. He has been around for a long time and I just think and 2 years he'll be done. A loss in the US, then a loss to Kell Brook and he'll be gone.

Ortiz is another waste of time and space.

It's weird that there was a mass media sanctioned mockery of Audley Harrison for his self-delusion, but Amir Khan doesn't seem to get the same cruel treatment. I'm not saying that's a bad thing but my God, some of the things that come out of Amir's mouth, especially recently, are the sounds of the insane asylum.

Definitly good enough to win more world titles but will never be undisputed champ or beat any elite level fighters

I think it's probably because Khan can always be relied upon to give every ounce of himself no matter what.

Yeah he will always have a future whether its the one he is hoping for - i doubt that but you can still have a stellar career with losses im sure he would be able to pick up more belts. You never know it might increase his power.

This is what he said

And he believes his punch resistance will be better when he doesn’t need to drop as many pounds.

“When you drain, it’s like fasting and then going into the fight,” Khan said. “In sparring, I’ve never been put down. I’ve sparred the likes of [Alfredo] Angulo and Manny Pacquiao. I’ve never been put down in sparring. It’s only in the fight. The reason is because I’m killing myself making weight. This will help big time.”
Which is perfectly reasonable and well explained. It is hell on a fighters body dehydrating to make weight.

To start a thread on this statement and for someone to claim he belongs in a mental asylum for saying it says more about the mental state of some posters than Amir khan

No one needs to spell out to you the difference between sparring with headgear and big gloves and actual fighting in the ring.

Obviously.
But there is some semblance of logic to what he said. It's not like he claimed his heart defect was cured by a faith healer.

It's a sad day when you can win 'more'world titles but not be considered elite!

True. I suppose when a lovable personality says something nutty people take it more in good humour. When an unloveable personality says something nutty, different story.

Using Holyfield as a comparison, we might let him off because he so consistently delivered in the elite A class. Khan is one of those guys always harping on about how he is better than the A class while losing repeatedly to B class guys and blaming it on his trainers. It can grate. I'm sure he's a nice bloke personally, and those connected to him naturally give him the benefit of the doubt, but his public persona is poor.

In the 1990s Holyfield lost to Bowe, Moorer and Lewis. And Bowe and Moorer had to come off the floor. That is pretty damn good, given that he beat Douglas, Foreman, Holmes, Bowe, Mercer, Tyson, Moorer and many in the press thought he edged Lewis in the rematch. He was delivering an insane number of elite level warrior efforts. He didn't just fold if he got hit.

I do think Khan is a waste of time and space now in the context that he keeps on saying stupid things that make him sound like the second coming. Fair enough Ortiz just annoys me and maybe a bit harsh to compare with a come-ahead fighter liker Khan but Khan has had his time at the top level and he's done now. I honestly think Brook would beat him and his days were numbered when Garcia punched him around the ring last year.

Khan is very entertaining but very predictable also, you can't change a mentality in a fighter, especially when the World's best trainers are getting rid.

His goal less than a year ago was to "clean out the Light Welterweight division then move up", correct me if I am wrong but he never did that, now it's just I really can't make the weight, which is just an excuse.

That's the same Amir Khan who is the only British boxer this century to unify world titles in America?

Is Gobbles code for Goebbels?

What a ridiculous thing to write. 'This century'? This 13 year long century, wow, what a long time its been.

Making an aged, shopworn Jad Zudah quit for the umpteenth time, we should celebrate Amir Khan day in the UK every time the anniversary comes around.

By the same token, he was robbed of his titles vs Peterson, don't you agree? Beating up Garcia until getting caught and even then, survived the worst of it only for the ref to stop it.

Yes, he has lost a few (some deserved and one totally not), fought good opponents since relocating, tough, dangerous fighters and doing it stateside, he deserves credit. His problem is, he has too much bottle and balls and goes for tear ups when really his speed would be enough against most fighters.
