Cerdan-LaMotta rematch
Marcel Cerdan dislocated his right shoulder in the first round of his title defense against Jake LaMotta. The frenchman fought one handed for nine rounds and then quit in the 10th because of this injury. He was flying back to America for the rematch when he was killed in a crash. Who would have won the rematch?

bollox, never sure just when that is. Rob Calloway says he did not quit when he had a broken jaw but he stopped the fight seems confusing to me, But Ali found a way. Vitali quit with a torn rotater could he have gone on? Torn Bicep? can you continue? When is it a choice and when is it not? If you say you can't go on shouldnt it be a KO?
Just being thoughtful because I honestly don't know.

..cerdan did not dislocate his shoulder. lamotta dislocated cerdan's shoulder. lamotta had two busted knuckles in his hand...forget which one...nat fleischer felt the injuries equalled each other out.
cerdan was a good fighter bnut lamotta was too strong and too good overall and would have beat him again in the rematch.

Fritzie was only 30 when he fought LaMotta -4 times in 6 months, out weighed 10-15 pounds each time and all 4 going to split decisions- but he did have 23 of 64 losses after those fights.
I don't know that Cerdan was better but he was a year younger than LaMotta and he hadn't fought Robinson 5 times, Zivic 4 times, tough Jose Basora four times, Lloyd Marshall, Bert Lytell, Tommy Bell 3 times, Holman Williams, Bob Satterfield, Jimmy Edgar, Tommy Yarosz, and a gang of other tough guys.
