If Aaron Pryor would have challenged Donald Curry
What would have happened if the great Aaron Pryor would have challenged WBA Welterweight champion Donald Curry back in 1983?
Pryor ran out of competition after he dismantled the great Alexis Arguello twice.

I think Curry would've taken a decision. Pryor would've been aggressive as hell, but I feel like Curry was a slightly better boxer at his best and the bigger man...would be a hell of a fight though. Over 15 rounds Curry wins a tough decision.

Depends at what point Curry lost it. That cat lost it in the gym one day. That's what 400 plus amateur fights does to a human being. The Curry at his best is the easy winner here and I'm the biggest Aaron Pryor fan in history. The Curry that lost it prior (no pun intended) to Honeygan could have been beaten.
Curry at his best would have been a handful for any welter in history. The shot, weight-drained, weak fighter that spit the bit verses Honeygan would have been beaten by most.
Nobody that great ever lost it as fast as Curry did. Sad, really. He was sensational on the level of Ray Leonard/Hearns/Benitez and on and on. Great fighter. Short career.

Pryor gave Curry a run for his money in terms of going from 80 to 0 in the shortest time frame.

Yeah, though Curry's downfall happened quicker (within 9 months of McCrory).BoxBuzz wrote:Pryor gave Curry a run for his money in terms of going from 80 to 0 in the shortest time frame.

curry at his best wins
Re: If Aaron Pryor would have challenged Donald Curry
Curry would have laid out Aaron in three rounds. There's no way Aaron can win this fight at this time. Curry was too good, despite Aaron's high level.Pryor would have the same problem with McCrory and STarling also.

McCrory wasn't as good as Starling or Curry. The End wrote:YupNile4000 wrote:Curry would have laid out Aaron in three rounds. There's no way Aaron can win this fight at this time. Curry was too good, despite Aaron's high level.Pryor would have the same problem with McCrory and STarling also.

I'm just saying I think Pryor'd best him, and I'm confident of it.

Pryor would've lost to Curry with or without the black/blue bottle. The size difference would've have been too much and Curry did actually had some good skills at that time.
