Froch prepared to kill Kessler in the ring

Carl Froch has broken one of boxing's unwritten rules by openly talking about killing his opponent Mikkel Kessler on Saturday.
The Nottingham IBF super-middleweight champion is actually friends with the Danish WBA title-holder and there has never been any trash talk between the pair.
But ahead of Saturday's rematch at London's O2 Arena - where Froch hopes to avenge defeat in their 2010 meeting in Denmark - the Briton sought to up the ante and took things too far.
"On Saturday night, if I have to, I will kill this f****r," Froch told reporters. "Sorry about the language, but I will kill him. It sounds brutal, it sounds horrible, but that is what this means to me.
"I'm going to leave it in the ring. And when I'm smashing his face in, I am going to go for the kill. I am going to go for the finish.
"As much as we are friends and we are okay who does he think he is coming over here to my country after what I have done in the last three years and what he has done?"
The likeable Kessler responded with a touch more class, tweeting: "@Carl_Froch Says he wants to kill me - thats not very polite :))"
Kessler is desperate to beat Froch in his own backyard and prove his 2010 win by unanimous points decision was nothing to do with him having home advantage.
Froch is in better form, having become a three-time world champion, while Kessler - who holds the lesser WBA 'regular' title - has endured a more turbulent time, retiring with an eye injury before returning to the ring with three fights.
"Carl's ready, I'm ready," said the Dane.
"Someone asked me 'what's in it for you? Why go there and do the rematch?' And I said 'you know what, because this is the fight I want'.
"I don't see a bigger fight in the world right now. I want to fight the best. I shook Carl's hand and said I'm going to come to your home country to fight you and that's why I'm here.
"I'm also here because I want to show him I'm better than him in his own country. I've never lost in Denmark.
"I've never had the IBF belt. I've had the WBC and WBA but I want new things. In life you've got to chase things and I'm chasing his belt. I want to show Carl - and all the boxing fans in the world - that I can beat him in his hometown."
"I feel like I've already boxed.
"This fight is the reason I got involved in boxing and turned professional."

He's already apologised and said he got carried away in the occasion/adrenaline whatever.
Re: Froch prepared to kill Kessler in the ring
I imagine what Froch has said has been thought (but not necessarily said in public) by many many boxers. So I do feel a bit sorry for him with the negative responses to his comments.

You could go through a fight every week and find a tasteless comment. Who said he'd put him in a wheelchair the other week, I thought that was harsh now Froch had to top it!stujones wrote:I imagine what Froch has said has been thought (but not necessarily said in public) by many many boxers. Like you say every fighter must have the thought that something serious could happen to them. Almost a do or die attitude at times.
Re: Froch prepared to kill Kessler in the ring
Silly talk from Froch to be honest. I'm sure he's just trying to drum up PPV sales but there's no need for that type of rubbish.

Forget the rest, what the feck is he on about here? Kessler is actually doing Froch a favor giving him a shot at redemption. Froch has been banging on about this since he took his gloves of in Denmark.johnswan1 wrote:http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/05 ... 23820.html

Disgraceful comments from Froch
Re: Froch prepared to kill Kessler in the ring
Hope Froch looses now! Bang out of order!

He got carried away, don't hold it against him !spudder56 wrote:Disgraceful comments from Froch
I will say one thing though, what with the groves/cleverly sparring Kessler stuff and now this I think Carl has got alot of pressure on him, I hope he don't try to hard on Saturday ! He really has to use his brain against this guy, sheer explosiveness will not win him this fight !
Re: Froch prepared to kill Kessler in the ring
will kessler eat froch's children?... the youngest wont be very tasty.

Re: Froch prepared to kill Kessler in the ring
Froch is a cock for all the bollocks about being a warrior and how hes this and that but i got to give the man some slack with this comment he got caught up in the moment and of course he didnt mean it he was just saying it to show how much he wants to win. Fair enough it was in bad taste, as much as i dislike him i cant dislike the man more for saying that.
Re: Froch prepared to kill Kessler in the ring
Yeah I think it's just down to Kessler being so likeable and such a gentleman that Froch is trying to get himself psyched. I imagine the build up to this one feels very different given his friendliness with Kessler. It is still a huge challenge and most people are picking Froch as though its a done deal, when the likelihood is that he will probably have to go through hell to win it.

Going down the Haye shock factor to boost sales. Froch.....NO!
Re: Froch prepared to kill Kessler in the ring
We have never seen Froch so worked up for a fight, lets hope it works in a positive way, as it should, and does not have a negative effect on his performance.

What would people say if Amir khan said these things? I like froch but he's made an error of judgement here and people should say that

People are saying that and he has apologised.Wrists wrote:What would people say if Amir khan said these things? I like froch but he's made an error of judgement here and people should say that
Re: Froch prepared to kill Kessler in the ring
Froch always struck me as a complete professional, very well contained and well in control mentally. I'm not sure if this is a go at getting more buys or he's feeling a bit of pressure and the mask has slipped. It's to be a good bout; I don't imagine that Kessler want's to win any less but it is Carl saying these things; for me, on balance, the pre fight game goes to Kessler.
Re: Froch prepared to kill Kessler in the ring
Most people don't like these kind of comments at any given time. My self included. The timing couldn't be worse with the poor guy losing his life in London. It puts comments like this into perspective. I like Carl Froch and he always comes across a nice guy. Everyone makes mistakes. It would be great of Carl Froch to wear a help for heroes t-shirt to the ring.

Paulie Malignaggi has threatened to piss on Adrian Broner if he puts him down
