Greetings. My name is Jim Allcorn & after an amateur career of 17-5 fighting out of my birthplace of Buffalo, NY, I turned pro on 11/2/1989 in Erie, PA against George Taylor of Cleveland, Ohio. I weighed in at 154 lbs while Mr. Taylor came in at 152 lbs. We fought to a 4 round split draw with judge Herb Scott voting 49-48 ( Allcorn ), Paddy Grimes voting 49-47 ( Taylor ) & judge
Bernard Harkins voting 48 - 48 ( even ).
I returned to the ring on 11/10/1990 in Erie, PA at Mercyhurst Campus Center against Jeff Schmude of Erie, PA. I weighed in at 156 lbs while Schmude weighed in at 161 lbs.
After the opening bell of the first round Schmude & I met in the center of the ring & after a brief exchange, Mr. Schmude retreated to the ropes & indicated to the referee that he'd suffered an injury to his shoulder. After which the ringside physician was brought in to examine him & it was ruled that he could not continue. After some discussion among the officials the outcome of the bout was ruled a No Contest.
After all these years of having the only two professional fights of my career go unrecorded for whatever reasons ( clerical oversight I would imagine ), I would VERY much appreciate it if you could remedy this matter as soon as you're able. I'm sure Mr. Taylor & Mr. Schmude would also appreciate their accurate records being displayed here as well.
Thank you for your time & attention in this matter.

Yes, indeed. Acri was the promoter & it was the first Annual Erie Boxing Classic if I'm not mistaken.
The 11/2/1989 card where I fought George Taylor took place at The Quality Inn in beautiful downtown Erie. LOL
Peace,
Jim

Re: Record notification & correction for Jim Allcorn of Lockport
wsbuf,
I'm hoping you can help out a fellow Buffalo native/western New Yorker with my record here ( or lack there of ).
As I explained in my previous entry, I had two pro fights & due to circumstances beyond my control, neither one of them appear in past editions of THE BOXING RECORK BOOK and/or online here at BoxRec. I've written to John Sheppard on a few occasions to try to remedy the situation, but to no avail thus far.
Now, I can absolutely assure you that I am NOT attempting to get credit for accomplishments that I didn't achieve. Believe me, if I were trying to fabricate a record, I would definitely try to come up with something a whole lot more impressive that an 0-0-1 mark with 1 no contest. I mean, c'mon! LOL
I'd just like my little piece of agate type here to show my kids. You know?
So, again, any & all help would be greatly appreciated.
* On 11/2/1989 at the Quality Inn in Erie, PA, I was originally scheduled to face one Lee Hufnagel in a four round contest that was my pro debut. Due to a fighter missing weight, the match ups were reshuffled & I was then scheduled to fight one Gene Holly of Ashtebula, Ohio in the walk out bout. I was rescheduled then again to face Cleveland's George Taylor. I weighed in at 154, Taylor at 151.
In an awkward affair in which I had difficulty with my opponent's rather bizarre style, the bout was scored 39-38, 37-39, 38 - 38 for a split draw. I was paid $200.00 for my efforts by Mike Acri.
On 11/10/1990 at the Mercyhurst College Campus in Erie, PA, After much uncertainty in the days leading up to the fight regarding my opponent's willingness to make his hometown debut, said opponent Jeff Schmude of Erie weighed in at 161 to my weight of 156.
Schmude & I met in the center of the ring for a brief exchange at which point he immediately retreated to the ropes & began a dialog with the referee. Indicating that he'd injured his right shoulder. At which point the ringside physician called a halt to he contest & after a brief chat with his fellow officials, had the ring announcer declare the fight a no contest. *
And so, these are the sum of my experience as a professional boxer.
And I would VERY much appreciate them both being recorded as such.
I realize that after all this time & due to the last minute opponent switches, unusual fight results, likely clerical errors etc my two pro fights could very well be reduced to the status of "heresay after almost 25 years, but, I assure you, I fought those fights. And, if need be I can provide you with character references from the likes of former NYCSACC Randy Gordon, Greg Sirb, John Scully, Ray Casal, Amer Abdallah & so many more.
I am desperately seeking out your's & John's help regarding this matter as a special case to someone whose lived & breathed this sport on every level since I first became a diehard fan at 14 way back in 1976.
Many thanks guys.
Very sincerely,
Jim Allcorn
