No doubt, I wouldn't have wanted to be either man, or anyone else mentioned in this thread as they have certainly earned their money and some.

I've got it on tape, and managed to find a digital copy of it the other month so will get round to watching it again this week.

His run as British Supermiddle champion had some smashers against Grant, Colarusso, Cummins. Before giving Steve Collins all he could handle in a WBO title shot.

I seem to remember Martin Rogan has had a few tear ups as well against Matt Skelton and two against Sam Sexton if memory serves me.

Of the active fighters nobody comes close to Antony Crolla IMO. He's had a distance war & hard, hard fight with Derry Mathews and a distance war with Kieran Farrell in his last three fights, and he faces Gavin Rees next which is a nailed on battle.

He's got some balls that kid.

Good call on this one. Murphy's British title fight with Gary DeRoux was more like a Rocky fight than any other real fight I've ever seen. I hope it makes it to Youtube one day.

If you're saying Crolla then you need to include Matthews himself. I'm not Derry's biggest fan but my god is he ever in a stupid number of great fights.

Despite the "dirty" tag, he should be in the shortlist of "must watch British fighters"

The only reason I didn't is that he had a 'knock over' fight before Crolla II on Dave Coldwell's show that (I think) Crolla v Farrell was the main event. Anthony has had three successive wars with a fourth looking likely next month.

Terry Carruthers, loves a war and never seems in a dull fight to me.

In fact, seems to WANT a war every time he gets in the ring.

Which ends up to his detriment as he cant get fights. Too much risk for the home fighter. Crazy sport we love.

He was also in a spectacular fight with a bloke called Anthony Logan in his commonwealth reign, the Barkley fight was ferocious while it lasted and his win over Doug Dewitt was exciting too, the fight with Henry Wharton was described by Benn as one of his toughest as well

I don't think I've ever seen CAT in a bad fight, even when he's losing he still gave it all.

I finally saw the Yawe Davis fight, wow what a finish. God knows how he even got up from that first punch.

He had good fights with:

Ashley
Piper
Duran
Tafer
Davis
Rocchigianni (had to feel sorry for him when his shoulder popped out)
Eubank
Nelson
Dunstan
Sellers
Rothmann

The Rothmann, Sellers and Dunstan fights probably the best, maybe the first Eubank fight too.

Yeah, against that French dude. It was poor but you can excuse him given his age and career.

I was there, telling all the casual Hatton fans not to miss Carl, "He's never in a bad fight"...
