Dereck Chisora vs Malik Scott July 20th

Post by dammage7 »

Good good fight for both fighters.

i dont expect a KO.

Malik can Out box delboy over 10-12 rounds
chisora can win by applying his reg pressure. he shouldnt get into a brawl as scott will outbox.

i hope chisoras punch resistance is still there after the haye fight

good fight for del boy, if del wants to mix again at top level he has to take care of a gatekeeper like malik.

malik cant be a gatekeeper, he undefeated.
could be a draw. i need to see scott vs glazkov to see how could he is.
his record is padded with 4 rematches with lesser opposition.

course he is a gatekeeper, he is in his 30s, 35 fights, never fought a top level opponent. in my eyes thats a gatekeeper or a glorified journeyman. he is the 'damon hague' of of the heavyweight division. are you trying to tell me he is a heavyweight championship contender?..... and if he is not, what is he then?

Not seen him fight, but he is no gatekeeper - he has his own championship ambitions = not a journeyman.

i cant see it, he should have stepped up ages ago, if you have ambitions then you follow them, otherwise you change manager/promoter. malik has been treading water for years. chisora is his best opponent to date.

what do you mean he shouldnt get into a brawl with Scott? How else is he going to beat him? He's never going to outbox him over 12 rounds.

Has there been any word from the Malik Scott camp? Seems all the talk is from Chisoras team and I can find nothing from the other side. Hopefully it's not another Deontay Wilder situation.

But look at Deontay Wilder - 28 -0 and his best win against a near retirement Audley Harrison coming off a 1 round KO.

if u watch scott vs glazkov, he has a very quick jab.

his reach is bloody 81 inches. so thats 7 inch advantage over delboy
he is also 3 inches taller and alot more athletic.
really hpoping for a delboy win, but got feeling draw or scott MD

Dereck overcame (altho not on the scorecards) Helenius's big height and reach advantage and Helenius was probably far more experienced in terms of big fights than Scott is. I think Scott is clearly more skilled and has some advantages but he will be giving up about a stone in weight and also Dereck has a hell of a work rate so if the American is to win rounds he is going to need to be throwing a lot of shots.

I'm looking forward to this fight if it comes off.

If he's a gatekeeper, he's not let anyone in yet

Thats because no one has been decent enough to test the lock on his gate!

Someone please enlighten me as to what I am missing about malik scott, he is in his 30s, 2 stoppage wins in his last 17 fights, the only names of note on his record are american journeymen. He has been a pro 13 years. Such is the desperation of the american heavyweight scene that if he was 'all that' he would have been railroaded a title shot a long time ago. I accept he is unbeaten but he is certainly not a contender, del boy is his best opponent by far and del boy has over achieved in my opinion.

So is scott a contender, gatekeeper, glorified journeyman or the real deal?

^^^ agree he has been around for years and only finally stepping up
the worst part is he gave 4 bums rematches.
apparently he's had alot of issues with promoters
another bad pint is he is ridiculed for only fighting 8 rounders.

however good points, he is unbeaten, good skills, good at swithcing
excellent quick long jab (same length as wladimir)

he can outbox chisora , but if chisora well conditioned like he was vs helenius he will win

50-50 fight

People saying that Malik is a gatekeeper, i'd say that Chisora is that as well.
Its a decent fight between 2 boxers that have yet to win at world class. Accept it as that.

Is beating Helenius considered to be a world level win?

Scott drew with a major prospect and many think he won that fight. He beats Chisora and he could land a shot soon enough.

I'd say going 3 clear losses and 1 controversial loss at world level is what a gatekeeper is. He has the ability to spring an upset , but usually loses when in top class.

He's not a gatekeeper because he has not let anyone through the "gate", but he's also not a contender. He's one of those boxers with an incredibly inflated record who has been treading water for years.
