Gethin's legs looked solid, he seemed to go down voluntarily every time.

The punch that put him down in the sixth seemed to do the trick for Diaz and Gethin didn't seem to recover.

Gethin rallied well in the fourth, but despite the loud cheers from the crowd and the commentary I don't think Diaz was in trouble. With a little more power Diaz probably would've been more bothered by Gethin's punches, but I'm not sure he would've been stopped.

That first knockdown took the fight out of him. Sometimes the "underdog" side story to a fight can motivate a fighter but I think as soon as the gulf in class between them started to appear early in the fight he broke down mentally and wanted out of there.
Pointless fight in the end but I guess at 29 and with a world title tilt on the line it was worth a shot. Hopefully he can move on from this at domestic level and win the Lonsdale belt outright.

I gave Gethin a share of one round but that was it. I thought he landed some good shots but was never powerful or clever enough.

Did anyone else notice that the commentary team basically ignored the quality work Diaz did in the first round? He easily took that but got no credit. I wish there was the option to switch the commentary off but still hear the atmosphere and the punches

I thought that Bunce and Crolla suggested that Gethin was upset about Powell saying he'd stop the fight, as opposed to Gethin being upset about being forced to go back out. Gethin certainly came out with intent but just wasn't good enough

Me too. Wanted to get a few quid on the stoppage but has to settle for 5/4 for the Diaz win.

Yeh I should have done, was hoping for a bookie to go around 3/1 or more for Diaz KO win, then I would have filled my boots.

Gethin did his very best and is settling into British Title level though he's the champ; he did not belong at world level, though Diaz had 11 losses he was very fluid and unruffled, he was used to a higher level. Gethin has nothing to be ashamed about, I read this morning he'd got a perforated eardrum; that must be very painful and made a hard job harder.

Dawson looked very good, he can really hit and hope he does well; he came across well in the post fight interview and seems a likeable man
