The Greatest Jr. Welterweight Fighter of All-Time?

This division had some great fighters in its boxing history. But it has been overshadowed by the lightweights and welterweights through the years. It is a great shame, because this weight class produced lots of great talent: Julio Cesar Chavez, Aaron Pryor, Antonio Cervantes, Nicolino Locche, Wilfred Benitez, Barney Ross, Jack "Kid" Berg, Mushy Callahan, Willie Joyce, Duilio Loi, Carlos Ortiz, Eddie Perkins, Jose "Mantequilla" Napoles and Kostya Tyzsu, who was the last great champion in that weight class.

Who in your view is the greatest jr. welterweight fighter of all-time and why?

The greats Tony Canzoneri and Jimmy McLarnin made their marks at lightweight and welterweight, respectively. I don't think Canzoneri is considered a great jr. welterweight, maybe yes. I will look it up on his record.

How about Carlos Ortiz, Eddie Perkins and Kenny Lane. Lane was the most stylish lefty I ever saw. All three of these guys took on all comers and ducked nobody. Their records of boxing and beating the best can't be denied.

You forgot to include the number 1 Henry Armstrong. McLarnin a very close 2nd. In addition to that, you have two of the best all-time defensive fighter who ever fought in Locche and Benitez. Chavez should be included here ahead of Prior. Cervantes deserves a mention here too.

The great Aaron Pryor never lost at 140lbs. I think he was the best at this weight class.

He and his management contingency combined perfect timing and the greatest run of luck of all time.

Half of those names would beat him prime vs prime.
He is best known for two great runs against a man who was a true great in a smaller weight class.
His list of opponents otherwise were so so save one who "aged out".
There was a great effort made to make it appear that those he wanted no part of from upper weight classes were "running".
After just a bit of the good life, he folded like an accordion.

I voted for Tszyu. I think he was very dominant at this weight except for his slip up against Phillips he was the best fighter in the division for the better part of 10 years, though it would have been good to see how he went against some of the other champs between 95 and 99. He was never outboxed and is very underrated in that aspect because he is just know for his big right hand.

I may be slightly bias though.
