Re: Weigh in details for DeGale vs Bozic
Is this for the MBE Silver super middle title ? And what exactly is a silver title ? Is there a bronze one available too ?
Why is Kid's title not silver & is he annoyed about this ?

Good to see DeGale out again so soon.

It seems to me that Champion is what Champion always was, Silver Champion is like #1 contender, except that if the real champ retires or vacates, you can simply promote the Silver champ without needing a title bout, and Diamond champ is a champ who is either too busy with drinking and laying by the pool, or with negotiating for unification bouts that he doesn't have time to make mandatories. It means the organisation can collect sanctioning fees from someone else, whilst holding on to their Ward or Mayweather type cash cow. It sucks.

You can trace the SMW silver title back on Boxrec through the years to see all the great names who wore it.

In fact, of the four bouts to date, three of them involved recent Groves opponent Noe Gonzalez.

The WBC has also created a "Silver" world title in the early 21st century. The Silver title was created as a replacement to the interim title. But unlike its predecessor, a boxer holding the Silver title cannot inherit the full title vacated by the champion.SamWise72 wrote:It seems to me that Champion is what Champion always was, Silver Champion is like #1 contender, except that if the real champ retires or vacates, you can simply promote the Silver champ without needing a title bout, and Diamond champ is a champ who is either too busy with drinking and laying by the pool, or with negotiating for unification bouts that he doesn't have time to make mandatories.
