anyone else like to see this gloves off sky special
Following the super middle round the table special with Roy Jones,Joe Calzaghe, Chris Eubanks and Steve Collins and Richie, just imagine the following around a table
Naseem hamed, Johnny nelson, herol graham, Brendan ingle, glyn Rhodes, Ryan rhodes, brian anderson.
Lol this one would be worth doing on pay per view.

Why have you excluded Junior Witter Buster Keeton John Thaxton et al - but worst omission of all Dave Coldwell.

I think Mugabi means Joe Pasquale.mickey1975 wrote: Joe Gallagher?

Do you think a) its viable having that many people around a table. b) the group i chose have a particular history and Dynamic and Keeton and Coldwell are not names of the same relavence or interest.Parson Cross wrote:Why have you excluded Junior Witter Buster Keeton John Thaxton et al - but worst omission of all Dave Coldwell.
Have you read the biographies of Nelson, Graham, or heard Ingle talk about Hamed,Graham,Anderson and Nelson? Have you heard about the beatings Graham and Anderson used to give Nelson and how Graham and Nelson fell out. Have you heard about Hamed trying to prise Nelson away from Ingle. Do you know Graham and Ingle dispute who was the originator of the switch hitting hands down "Ingle" style? Did you know Rhodes and Nelson came to blows. Do you know Rhodes has been the epitome of a mate to Graham. Of course Hamed and Ingles history is well known.
I chose Graham, Hamed, Nelson,Ingle and Glyn Rhodes and Brian Anderson as there is a particular history between these men and more unresolved issues than the Middle East.

Re: anyone else like to see this gloves off sky special
The answer is yes because they are all friends of mine ... and by that I mean good close friends.
Yes I have read the books. In fact I'm in Johnny's.
Having been an integral part of Ryan's career since he was a kid, yes Ive heard the stories and witnessed a lot.
To be perfectly frank, I don't need a dinner party to discuss quote "unresolved issues" because I know the truth.

Of your original guest list you wouldn't get Naz and Brendan in the same room, nor would Glyn attend.
You'd be surprised be omitting Dave Coldwell.
He saw a hell of a lot as a fighter at Wincobank, and his career outside the ropes thereafter trying to get going in Sheffield as a trainer / manager / promotor has had a lot of fascinating twists and turns.
I'd substitute Mick Mills in there as well

Parson cross you seem a little slow on the uptake and missing the point
The beauty of the thing would be getting these men who as you so eloquently put it wouldnt "share a room" into the same room.
Just because you apparently have all the answers doesnt mean that the wider british boxing audience wouldnt find it interesting as a premise for a TV show, and it would be great for all of them to be back in the same room. These men and what they achieved as a group are a part of british boxing history.
Bomber Graham and his style ushered in a new type of british boxer far removed from the upright stiff boxer stereotype of the early 80s.
Nelson and his determination are an inspiration to any athlete
Without Hamed its doubtful you would see as many asians in amateur boxing and turning pro like you do now. Hamed ushered this era in not Amir Khan.

Who won out of Glyn and Nelson?
Not good to hear, but things happen in life.

Mugabi,
With respect you are missing the point.
You asked me direct questions and I answered them for you.
Where have I said that this show would not be worthwhile ?
If this round the table were to happen of course it would be interesting.
It is a well trodden path and well known that Brendan and Naz haven't made their peace so sadly you wouldn't get them together.
You've read the books so you'll know why Glyn wouldn't turn up.

I disagree regarding Parsons Cross. Whilst yours is a "fantasy" line up, he is just stating facts as he is in the know. If spud popped up on the Haye-Fury threads and told us all it wasn't happening, we would have to take note. As for name dropping, I think he underplays it. I have been friends with a few pros over the years and heard loads of stories you couldn't put on here. Parsons was around arguably one of the most successful gyms Britain has ever had at its most successful time. He probably could write a book based on what he has SEEN.mugabi wrote:I think you're the kind of bloke who just comes online looking to be awkward. Love the name dropping tooDD
Bottom line I think it would make a good tv show of tremendous interest

Thanks for that Mickey. Do you know what ? Just going to celebrate tomorrow as my good friend Glyn Rhodes picks his MBE up from the Queen. If that's name dropping then I'm proud to do it. Glyn I salute you pal. Hard earned, well deserved.

Re: anyone else like to see this gloves off sky special
Takes a lot for me to get dismayed about this place but to get called a c**t as well as a name dropper is the point at which I draw the line. Good night and God bless !
Re: anyone else like to see this gloves off sky special
It's a giant misunderstanding.u attacked me Dr or no reason by saying I hated Johnny nelson which US nonsense
I retaliated by calling u a name dropper which is also nonsense
I had no idea u were a experienced poster and more than that a boxing man through and through.
U also had no idea I've taken my licks in the ring and would never "hate" some one online. Deepest apologies .I look forward to hearing about your boxing views on this forum.can't apologise enough

No problem pal. Leave it there. You'd be surprised what I know ! You're 36 a former public schoolboy living in Middlesex that had about a dozen am fights and studied jujitsu.
Lets just move on.

PC might be many things but a c*nt definitely isn't one of them (!)
Re: anyone else like to see this gloves off sky special
I'd love to see a Tyson-Lewis face-off on one of these shows, maybe throw in a Bruno and/or Witherspoon if it's feasible

Yeah, I presuming he's based over here now, he always seems to be about anyway.mickey1975 wrote:Witherspoon would be easy to get on board.Chambers2 wrote:I'd love to see a Tyson-Lewis face-off on one of these shows, maybe throw in a Bruno and/or Witherspoon if it's feasible
Maybe if Sky get Lewis/Tyson over for a BIG fight as they have done in the past it could be a possibility. Sure I recall Lewis saying that him and Tyson get on fine now and have met a few times since their spat, so it may be a possibility
Re: anyone else like to see this gloves off sky special
All that will happen is Tyson will go into his gee golly im so gracious to even be here in the same room as Lennox mode and he will downplay himself. Id like to hear Tyson be a gentleman and talk frankly about how invincible he felt in the late 80s.Witherspoon long ago should have been employed as a punditChambers2 wrote:I'd love to see a Tyson-Lewis face-off on one of these shows, maybe throw in a Bruno and/or Witherspoon if it's feasible
Re: anyone else like to see this gloves off sky special
what about one with current fighters so we could see some of the fights actually happen, maybe get the likes of Haye, Fury, Price, Chisora that would be great entertainment
