Is Fury's jab that great? It's not as simple as Fury choosing to stand off and jab him to death. I'm sure Haye would be happy to allow that to happen!

Is Fury quick enough to keep Haye off him? Is he powerful enough to keep Haye on the back foot?

Totally agree Marc, Fury can win this if he wants too by jabbing Hayes head off and tee off with big one two's, but somewhere along the line Fury will go into "macho bullshit mode" which will leave him susceptible to a big shot off Haye, and if that happens I expect Haye not to let him off the hook. Great fight if it happens.
I honstly feel he wouldn't be fast enough. I was impressed with Fury's skill and speed improvement (excluding the Cunnigham fight) BUT he's not fast enough to jab from the outside. Haye would slip it all day long and look to counter. Enzo Mac tried it for a round and missed every time cos he wasn't fast enough.

Wlad is different because he's extremely quick for his size (quicker than he looks) and jabs twice and steps back, completely out of range. Fury Jabs and holds his feet and that opens him up for a BIG overhand right

Enzo did try but he's the same size as Haye. I'm not so sure Furys speed will be a bigger factor as Hayes(who we know is quick anyway). Haye will not only need speed but he''ll need to cut around 9"/10" inches down before Fury needs to even move/slip. I believe if Fury is to win his jab will be crucial for taking Haye to the later rounds, confusing/frustrating him and setting up a Klit"esque" one two. If Fury can get a plan in place and stick to it I think it would be a very intersting fight.

Lets not re-write history here.

Fury is a decent heavyweight, a big man with decent skills and a big heart.

However, he is a slow heavyweight with a ponderous jab and dare I say a questionable chin.

David Haye is fast, loves fighting tall fighters generally who are slow and hits very very hard.

As styles make fights go this is easy for Haye which is why the fight is being made.

Haye KO inside 4 rounds

Based on what? Jabbing a static Johnson and static Chisora. When Haye faced Klits, okay he done nowhere near enough, but Wlad's movement is great and Haye was connstantly moving and fresh at round 12
More based on him looking fooked after a few against Del, demanding they change it from 12 to 10 rounds at late notice and, going back a bit, literally counting punches and deliberately doing 12 rounds just to reassure themselves they could.

There is a lot of Fury to aim at and his defence is poor. He is pretty slow, contrary to what some have been suggesting. His power is so so and his skills are still developing. Haye loves fighting these sorts of guys. Wladimir is a bit different, in the sense that he is simply better than Fury and the others, in every facet and knows how to actually box and knows about distance etc.

If he (Wladimir), as quick, skilled and big as he is, couldn't land that much on Haye (and visa versa), why are we thinking that Fury has a better chance of not only beating Haye, but winning by KO? Sure Haye may take more risks but Haye is quicker, more agile and more powerful than Fury. Stylistically, this is a very bad match for Team Fury, in my opinion.

Some have mentioned stamina, on the part of Haye, being an issue. Maybe, maybe not. That is more down to him trying for a KO. Against Wlad, he went the course easily. I still don't see this fight happening, not unless Mick has decided to say, 'fvck it', which to me seems to go against everything he has done. He want's a world HW champion and I doubt he is willing to sacrifice all of that for the sake of £2-3 mill or whatever. Has anyone actually seen anything regarding confirmation of this match up?

Fury losing this fight won't stop him getting a world title shot sometime in 2014. The division is crap and Fury will still be a top contender even if Haye beats him easily.

This fight is a no-brainer, win-win, obvious fight to take for Fury.

Horse your a no-brainer. Why would he be a top contender if haye beats him easily? Would'nt that make him slip down the rankings? Tyson is a fraud, so overrated its untrue.

Fury's already beaten a few good fighters and has earned a ranking of about 6th in the world.

Losing to Haye would only drop him down a few places in the rankings and after another win or two against decent opponents he would be looking at getting a final eliminator again.

Fury isn't a fraud, he is underrated if anything.

The only way for Tyson to make good money against a Klit is to beat Pulev for the mandatory spot. As Horse says, he can go back down that route even if he loses. Don't forget he is still very young. The Haye bout makes him a millionaire and a household name throughout Britain.

A style based on a lack of stamina.
Or tactics based on his strengths and weaknesses. Prudent, in my view.

I don't disagree. Haye's stamina is a weakness though and that is why he fights with such a low workrate.

Fury has to protect himself from that over hand right shot. Then maybe do a mauling job on him ala Cunnigham style very early on, then just try and tire Haye out over a few rounds, so that haye can't unload them big shots he has on Furys chin. Tyson then might have a chance?

There is a question mark on his stamina, but all fighters have a weakness and when Haye is training for a speed fight (Chisora, Valuev) his stamina seems better. He will adopt a speed mentality against Fury and lets be honest, there are a huge number of question marks over Fury. He hasn't become better because Price lost. He shows impressive spurts at times but I'm not sure how he'd cope mentally with swinging into thin air for most of the fight. If he stays disciplined, I think he'll get his ears boxed off. If he gets macho and careless, he'll have his head knocked off.

His stamina didn't seem very good in those fights.

I think Fury's jab will land as well as the rest of his punches. Haye isn't a super elusive, counter-punching God: he'll get hit.

I don't know, Haye did an extremely good job of making Wlad miss with his jab over and over and over again, especially in the early going; Wlad has a much better jab than Fury. What Haye couldn't do was take advantage of those misses because of Wlad's good footwork and ability to block Haye's overhand right consistently. Fury certainly hasn't shown that kind of defensive ability yet.

What Fury does have is much better workrate, so if he's able to land on Haye through sheer volume without getting nuked in the middle of a combination he might be able to really put it on Haye, especially as he has a clear advantage in stamina.

I think there have been question marks on Furys stamina before, so I'm not sure how clear that advantage is. I just can't see him throwing the volume without the 'getting nuked' bit. When Haye is trim and springy he is very hard to hit, he moves quicker than anyone Fury has fought. Of course Fury has a chance, its just very slim.

I thought of other words but they were the most apt. By trim, I mean how he came in against Valuev rather than Ruiz, trim and toned rather than bulkly. As for springy, again, I cite his movement against valuev. Glad I brought some amusement to your Saturday morning all the same :TU:
