Price vs Fury would be a case of first to land a punch. It's a toss up.

TV is the main stumbling block. If it goes to SKY, Fury will find himself in breach of contract.Final round wrote:“Tyson always wanted this and Haye’s camp are keen.” says Mick Hennessy
Does Fury have a contractual obligation to fight on Channel 5? I get confused. At one point there were some threads saying 5 wasn't going to show boxing anymore, so I just assumed he had a fight by fight thing going with them.keithmoonhangover wrote:TV is the main stumbling block. The threads were bollocks. I emailed C5 that day and they emailed me back the next saying they had no plans to stop boxing.clopixolacuphase wrote:Does Fury have a contractual obligation to fight on Channel 5? I get confused. It would be good if it was somehow on 5. Very good for boxing. Like the old Benn/Eubank/Watson days on ITV. It's unlikely though, isn't it?keithmoonhangover wrote:

Fury is under contract, how long it's for I don't know.
I haven't seen the contract, but there's no way that 5 have Mick on a fight by fight deal. Fury was the reason they put boxing on 5, so he will be signed to a multi fight deal - I'm sure of it. That's the reason why Fury couldn't risk the Price fight going to purse bids. I'm not sure how the deal is structured, but there is no way that 5 are gonna just let Fury waltz over to SKY for the biggest fight of his career.Final round wrote:Keith, do you think Fury is personally under contract with Five? more than likely Mick is in a show by showdeal showcasing his stable of fighters? DeGale fought in Canada, Hughie in Romania and Five didn't pick those up.
I'm sure 5 would want to put it on Primetime PPV, with a half our documentary program every night in the week building up to the fight.clopixolacuphase wrote:It would be good if it was somehow on 5. They almost let Fury waltz off to the states with no tv for the biggest fight of his career. The Five honchos were wringing their hands over it.keithmoonhangover wrote:I haven't seen the contract, but there's no way that 5 have Mick on a fight by fight deal. Not sure about that mate. They might have been late announcing it, but I didn't see anything from 5 saying they weren't showing it.Final round wrote:They almost let Fury waltz off to the states with no tv for the biggest fight of his career. The Five honchos were wringing their hands over it.
No I wouldn't at all mate but they wouldn't be able to cough up the dough required.keithmoonhangover wrote:Not sure about that mate. Regardless though mate. If you were 5, would you let Fury walk over to SKY for the biggest domestic clash in years?
I forgot Five were involved with Primetime.keithmoonhangover wrote:I'm sure 5 would want to put it on Primetime PPV, with a half our documentary program every night in the week building up to the fight.clopixolacuphase wrote:It would be good if it was somehow on 5. If it goes to SKY Box Office, then 5 will have to pacified.Final round wrote:No I wouldn't at all mate but they wouldn't be able to cough up the dough required.
If it gets made it will be sky ppv. Not on 5 or primetime biggest money is sky ppv for it.keithmoonhangover wrote:If it goes to SKY Box Office, then 5 will have to pacified.Final round wrote:No I wouldn't at all mate but they wouldn't be able to cough up the dough required.
I agree mate, but Hearn/Hennessy will need to make an arrangement with 5.leforge wrote:If it gets made it will be sky ppv. Most likely!Horse wrote:Sky PPV then on Channel 5 a few days later and everyone's happy, right?
No flies on this Horse. Very good.Horse wrote:Sky PPV then on Channel 5 a few days later and everyone's happy, right?
Not at all Horse. Why would 5 let SKY rake in all the PPV money, when all they get is the advertising revenue from the delayed showing. 5 will want the fight on Primetime.Horse wrote:Sky PPV then on Channel 5 a few days later and everyone's happy, right?
Give them a fair % of the PPV revenue as well then.keithmoonhangover wrote:Not at all Horse. Why would 5 let SKY rake in all the PPV money, when all they get is the advertising revenue from the delayed showing. 5 will want the fight on Primetime.
I wouldn't like to be the person that brokers that deal.Horse wrote:Give them a fair % of the PPV revenue as well then.keithmoonhangover wrote:Not at all Horse. That's not the case mate. Hennessy himself says the biggest stumbling block is television.dookus wrote:Channel 5 definitely 'accidentally' tweeted that they weren't going to be showing the Cunningham fight, then hastily withdrew that and posted that they were 'in negotiations' to show that fight. That would suggest that whatever multi-fight deal was in place with Hennessey has since expired or been repudiated, and they're on a fight-by-fight basis.
If that is the case, Hennessey would be in a strong position to implement Horse's suggestion of a repeat on C5 - much less costly to C5 than a live broadcast, and shifts the bigger risk (and reward!) to Primetime, who have more experience of putting these events on.
