Bomber Vs Stevenson
After taking Dawson out with a 1st round KO, how do you see this going?
Personally I prefer the fight with Stevenson as I think this will be a war. Bomber's got excellent recuperative powers and if he gets caught he'll probably get up. If he boxes, Bomber can do this. Looking forward to this one.

Re: Bomber Vs Stevenson
Not sure it will happen.
Stevenson is the lineal and Ring Magazine champion, and a win like that on HBO will help him get big fights even without a belt and the obligation/risk of a relatively low-paying and low-profile opponent like Bellew. I think it's far more likely that Stevenson next faces Ward or Hopkins, or the winner of Bute-Pascal in a huge domestic showdown, though it's probably less likely if Pascal wins since clashes among GYM promoted boxers are uncommon.

You make a good point, Stevenson Vs winner of Pascal - Bute will be huge in Canada. This unexpected win for Stevenson will have him going for the biggest money fights, which is absolulty the right thing for him to do.crusader wrote:Not sure it will happen.

Bomber is mandatory, so wonder if Stevenson will vacate and Bomber fights the next highest available contender? This is good opp. If Bomber wins, W@rren and Cleverley will begging for the rematch
Re: Bomber Vs Stevenson
hbo forgot that bute vs pascal has a rematch clause in the contract

Sorry if this pisses on your chips but if you honestly think Bellew can win against this guy you're deluded!Newport Daz wrote:Bomber can do this.

Dawson or stevenson beat Bellew.
Re: Bomber Vs Stevenson
I've seen a bit of Adonis and he is a powerful hitter but is a little bit crude.
But style wise, he is the better of the two to face with regards the way Bellew fights.
Tony will have to stink the place out behind the jab until the storm has passed, then box his ears off.
But make no mistake, last night was an excellent win against a very good 175lb champion. But we might see Popkins and his new belt enter the foray for a unification I reckon.

Ain't bellew mandatory challenger?
There are a lot of lucrative fights for Stevenson so can't see bellew getting Offerd it.

Pascal and Stevenson seem really good mates so I doubt that fight would happen.crusader wrote:Not sure it will happen.

Re: Bomber Vs Stevenson
Stevenson is a better boxer than your giving him credit for! In his early days he was very crude and pretty much purely relied on his power but if you look at him since he started being trained by Manny you'll see his boxing has improved a lot. Go and watch his fight against Don George to see that he can fight a measured fight. Also Bellew looked awful last time he boxed a southpaw in bob Ajisafe so dont count Stevenson out in that fight.G0mez wrote:I've seen a bit of Adonis and he is a powerful hitter but is a little bit crude.

Re: Bomber Vs Stevenson
Stevenson is certainly crude but boy is he a dangerously big puncher. That's his last 11 wins all come by stoppage. I don't think Bellew has the power, skill, concentration or chin to get past someone like Stevenson. Stevenson would hurt Bellew badly.
Time for The Bomber to explore another route to world honors or wait for Stevenson to drop the belt in favour of a super fight.

Re: Bomber Vs Stevenson
Can't see him fighting Bellew now after that KO, he will be in a great position to get a big fight after such a great KO of a good name. He'd splat Bellew in the same way imho, Bellew has been struggling with guys like Chilemba who aren't at world level and don't have power, remember Bellew got put down in several of his early fights so can't see him taking a dig off Stevenson too well.
Re: Bomber Vs Stevenson
Dawson loves a rematch so I'm sure he'll want the chance to put this right and must have had a clause in the contract.

Haven't seen it lately, but Tony presumably still has a big punch himself. He's fearless, & will fancy the fight so might force Hearn to take it....he'll have a punchers chance, as don't forget Adonis got whacked by a journeyman awhile back.
No rematch for Chad after a 70 sec loss.

Exactly. Sure, Stevenson will be a favourite against Bellew and rightly so given his performance last night. But to say Bellew has no chance at all despite Stevenson getting stopped by the light punching middleweight journeyman Darnell Boone is somewhat illogical.
Re: Bomber Vs Stevenson
Boone isnt that light punching and is the only guy to of dropped Ward in his career and genuinely hurt him. Secondly when was he was a middleweight? That must of been ages ago.black panther wrote:MightyWarrior wrote:Haven't seen it lately, but Tony presumably still has a big punch himself. Ward first started campaigning at middle if you remember

Fair enough. Boone has been campaigning at super-middle for quite awhile now though.

Re: Bomber Vs Stevenson
He's a journeyman who takes fights at late notice hence weighing above his natural weight: middleweight. For his last fight before the Stevenson rematch (Jan 2013) he weighed 164lbs. Hardly a genuine super middleweight never mind a big light heavyweight like Bellew. My point is, Bellew does have a chance against Stevenson.columbo wrote:Secondly when was he was a middleweight? Re: Bomber Vs Stevenson
Not saying Bellew has no chance, everyone has a punchers chance, but I do think that the only reason he gets a bit more credit is cos he sometimes comes on here so some people got to know and like him, I think in terms of actually Bellew being a world level operator, I just don't see it I'm afraid.
Stevenson will surely have bigger fish to fry now after that win, he's 35 so needs big fights, not fights with pretty unproven Brit fighters who have no belt or name to offer.

Re: Bomber Vs Stevenson
I've no problem with Bomber taking on Stevenson. Yes he'll be a big underdog, but upsets happen. And at least Bellew wants the fight and wants to test himself against the top guy in the division.
Upsets happen, and Stevenson hasn't got up to win yet.

Will be great when I pick up a wedge on Bellew winning.
