Froch Kessler 2 purse?

Post by Wales »

How much did Froch and Kessler get paid for their second scrap, anyone know? I see Warren offered him 2.5m to fight cleverly, surely Carl hasnt been earning that much to instantly turn down such a big payday for what on the surface looks like a low risk high reward fight.

In Warren's Sum column yesterday he said the £2.5 million would have been one of his biggest paydays. So I would have thought his fight with Kessler paid more than that.

Seen old reports saying a 50-50 split of 4m, and another saying kessler had more due to him fighting "away from home". Wondered if there was any more recent factual reports on this. Cant imagine Froch earning more to fight anyone else, really.

Warrens shitty diatribe in yesterday's Sun claims that there was an instantly rejected offer of £2.5m for Carl to move up to LH to fight Nathan Who at a catchweight. What it doesn't mention is the options that were almost certainly attached to the offer and the likely requirement that the fight be shown to the 12 men and their dogs who subscribe to his channel.

Carl has plenty of options at 168, including the one fight he really wants in Andre Ward. Sometimes in boxing it not all about money - it could well be that Froch would take less money to go after the one un-revenged blot on his record than face a domestic rival who hasn't yet fought above European level.

And what's with the obsession with Froch, I thought Warren was on track to deliver big unification fights against Hopkins, Shumenov et al. I'm guessing we won't be hearing any mention of a fight with Stevenson after last night either!

Cleverly is about as attractive to the worlds top LHWs as Warren is to UKs next top model.

Who would want to be owed 2.5 m from Warren?

Froch is having none of it, and rightly so.

Exactly. Good point :TU: After the Calzaghe court case, Fwank has very little credibility

His Saturday sun pieces resemble the rumblings of a bitter scorned woman.

Last week it was 'well done Carl, but Calzaghe was miles better', now it's 'Carl knows Nathan beats him that's why he turned down the offer'

He used to have a similar obsession with Haye and even Audley before him. Used to get the outrageous claims about Enzo beating Haye etc ( didnt he say he would retire from promoting if Haye managed to beat Enzo? )

The devil is in the detail.
Offers are not just about the purse.
Offers are about contracts.
If Carl has done the sensible thing he will be on a fixed fee per pay per view sale plus his purse.
If Mikkel has done the sensible thing he will have taken the Danish TV rights plus his purse.
I think it's a well known fact that Haye was on £4 a sale when there were 800k viewers.
If so the purse starts to be less significant.
Might have got 2.5 with Wazza but no bolt ons plus without a doubt options on his next three fights.
Why sell your soul ?
I hope Carl makes a shed load. Deserves every penny and he's in the right home to do it.

allegedly should try paying his own fighters before making these zero-credibility 'offers' to other fighters. What a prick. Can't believe they still give him a platform in The Sun to air his bitter nonsense.

Didn't Haye get paid in advance for the Chisora fight?
No bolt ons and no options.

David Haye is a wise man then, that is the only way I would work for Warren as well if I was any sort of name boxer.

In that sort of deal it wouldn't be a bad nights work for Carl. I'm not saying he should though.

Yep definitely, wouldn't trust Warren with a 10 foot bargepole otherwise. It's sad to even think like that though, to think that you have to go through all those steps to make sure the dodgy geezer you are agreeing to work for will actually pay you. No-one in their right mind would go and work for Warren when they have a proper promoter like Matchroom who pays them and looks after them. Warren is just an old-school shark.

Still struggling to get my head around that one to be fair - and by that I don't mean the financials, that's the easy bit.
Career wise something tangible must have been placed in front of him surely ?
Also you've got to worry about the motivation for the move and whether Barry M is looking after himself or the fighter.

To be honest, I was going to start a thread on this on Saturday but I never got round to it.

I rarely read his colum and will definitely not in the future.

How a newspaper can provide FW with a platform to spout his shite is unbelievable.

Maybe they dont consider Eddie Hearn as trustworthy and as 'nice' a guy as a lot of people think he is.

Nice guy Eddie is a nice guy. But he has to stop sending his fighters over to the US for beatings!

Froch, Rees, and the guy who lost to Alexander! It's not good business!!!

Maybe Frampton thought that's where he was headed.
