Had he not been Demolished by Haye - Enzo Mac

Just been racking my brain today how Enzo's career would have panned had he not met David Haye and been demolished. Obviously there would always be the 'yeah but he never met Haye' argument but how would the Enzo of 2007 who was progressing brilliantly following his win over Braithwaite have coped with the cruiserweights of the last 5 years.

I don't see him winning many of those. Enzo can stop most people he can hit, but he's not going to stop Huck or Afolabi, and many of the others would run rings round him.

Haye didn't ruin Enzo IMO. Enzo had been matched carefully prior to Haye and was gonna get found out sooner or later.

The only thing Haye did was make it clear that priority 1 fighting Enzo was to hit him clean on the chin as soon as possible.

Those guys from that list would all beat him, in my opinion. Enoz was a good dometic / Euro level fighter. The fact he went the WBU / WBO route tells its own story.

At the time I was buzzing for this fight and actually thought (and wanted) Enzo to win.

Looking back now I would never have guessed what happened in the fight and what has happened in their careers since.

Really?? I thought it was going to be a more exciting fight, but fully expected Haye to chin him at some point.

As for this thread, I think Enzo was your classic Warren fighter, protected, put in with old shopworn fighters or non-punchers for a long time to build up a win record, even then had a terrible slip up against journeyman Swaby.

I loved to watch Enzo, he offered great excitement, but I was under no illusions about his level, he was a top domestic/medium Euro level fighter at his peak. Just too chinny to ever compete with the real world/top euro level guys, that Frenkel KO was horrific and he should have retired straight away after that.

PS, anyone know what happened to Frenkel?? Not boxed since he beat Enzo?

Wondered the same in the other Enzo thread. Apparently he couldn't deal with the pressure of it and dropped out of the sport.

I think he had a lot of promise but he never learned to use his physical advantages, it's so odd seeing such a tall inflexible guy leaning forward with his not very good chin sticking out. If I trained Enzo I'd have spent all day everyday turning him into a holding the centre of the ring and jabbing and countering machine.

Lets not forget he was beating Olafabi at time of stoppage, and same with Frenkel IMO. He never had the greatest chin but it seemed to evade him completely following Haye, and he became a bit gun shy. And there is a massive difference in Haye's power to 95% of other cruiseweights

Enzo's Big Truck performance was him at his most disciplined. Then Haye cracked his jaw for good.

Enzo went life and death against Marcelo Dominguez before finding a perfect uppercut and I remember his first fight against Hobson being a 'could have gone either way' job. He did improve after the Dominguez performance but I don't think he was ever going to last too long at World class at Cruiserweight.

I was very confused by his/his teams decision to face McPhilbin tho. He and his team had said he was stepping down to Light-heavyweight he strings together a few wins weighing in at around the light-heavyweight limit and then suddenly it's back to Cruiserweight for what really wasn't that huge an opportunity.

He cost me a fortune against Dominguez. It was the final leg of a £30 Lucky 15 for me and I needed Enzo to win on points. Dominguez was regarded as unstoppable but that was some punch he got caught with.

I wasn't impressed with either performance against Dominguez or Hobson, but he did impress me against Braithwaite although he was past it.
