What were you taught to watch when learning to box?
What were you taught to watch when learning to box?
Some people are told to watch their opponents eyes to see what they're doing and ive heard others being taught to watch the guys upper arms and shoulders to anticipate what they were going to do next! What about you? Particularily interested in hearing what pro's both past and present think!

Ok from what i think your getting at then its better to look at the pectoral (chest ) muscles , they twitch before the arm moves . Looking at a boxers eyes is about as useful as a chocolate fire guard .
What i thought the question would be when reading the title was asking what novices are told to watch when watching boxing , which my answer to that would be to watch the footwork , very underated skill but good footwork can get you quite far defensively , Good footwork and being a banger can get you to a reasonable level even without other basic boxing skills imo

Also if their feet are not in the right spot they can't hit you, as soon as they go to move their feet in the right place either move or get your shots off firstThe Insider wrote:Just look down and stare at his feet. Cringeworthy, but i asked this in the gym when i first started sparring. The trainer replied "you ever been hit by an eyeball son?"Looking On wrote:columbo wrote:Some people are told to watch their opponents eyes to see what they're doing and ive heard others being taught to watch the guys upper arms and shoulders to anticipate what they were going to do next!
