That wasn't the reason mate, Ronnie was just back from a hand injury and had only been training properly for a few weeks. The only sparring he got was against a couple of boys from my gym that were fighting 2 minute rounds so all of the sparring was in 2 minute rounds. Made sense for Ronnie to box the 2 minute rounds on Monday.[/quote]

Yes due to there opponents but what I'm saying is the BBBofC shouldnt allow it.
David trains and spars 3 min rounds at all times in the gym,I'm not having a go at the boxers it's the board who should make a stance and outlaw 2 min rounds.
I know ronnie mate and if he fought 2 min rounds because of his hand concerns he shouldnt have fought in hindsight he's hurt the same hand again so he prob shouldn't have fought and allowed the hand to heal longer

Of course they did as loads of boxers have done, the two mins rounds are done up in down the country by different promotors and if the board seen any problem with it or felt it disadvantaged fighters in any way im sure they would have done away with - that is my opnion on it.

I believe the 2min Rd's are there to protect the journeymen from taking punishment in the last minute of a 3 min Rd but once a fighters done 6x3 or 8x3 he should always do so

Ricky even boxed 6x2 and 8x2 but once he done 6x3 or more he never went back down to 2 min rds

I totally agree with you, but if a pro athlete can't do 4x3 mins which is the minimum I don't think they should hold a licence,I know plenty will disagree with my thoughts but there we go

I agree should be a minimum of 4 x 3min rounds.. I don't agree with the whole journeymen situation but I'm not getting into that one.. I thought Ronnie should have fought 6 x 3min rounds but at the end of the day he has a manager there to make those decisions.. Ronnie can do the rounds comfortably so really he's just needing the ring time and that's why he took this fight.. His hand needed tested. I'm sure it gonna be ok

The 2 minute rounds do a job here is a couple of case where I think they work.

If somebody has had a long amateur career and they have trained for the 3x3 minute rounds it can sometimes be a mind thing that they don't think they can fight for more rounds, so having to box and come back to the corner for 6 or 8 x 2's can help with the adjustment.

If someone has just came back from a bad injury or even a bad KO it can be helpful to just get back into the ring and see how everything feels.

I agree that after a certain point the boxer needs to be doing the 3 minute rounds, I would say that maybe once a fighter reaches 10 fights they should be made to do 3 minutes unless they have been ko'd or back from a bad injury.

Everybody will have their own opinions on how they like things to be.

Matty boxed in February and was due to box this month but in training his arm locked and we got it checked out. He now needs an operation to remove a piece of floating bone around his elbow!

We are hoping he will be returning September though.

Sometime the small hall shows are better fights than the big areana fights. Heard Gilmours show the other night was a cracker, wouldn't pay 100 quid right enuff.

smashing please for £5 more your in a top arena watching world championship boxing and the cream of Scotland's boxers on the undercard.
I thought Sean could have been a very good prospect however he struggled with his weight continually but worst of all he listened to people (people who had no right talking or emailing him) saying the grass is greener (it's not)
pagan has a chance in the game especially when he matures and develops,again he knows he's a long way from the top guys he was in with in the gym but he has time on his side.

I agree 3 minute rounds separates the men from the boys. It doesn't do the prospects no good in learning their trade and if journeymen can't hack it they shouldn't be there.
4x3's is fine for the novices, but they even do 4x2's these days.
I think it is more to do with there not being enough money on the small shows and the shorter rounds are more affordable.

It's good there active but there not in learning fights IMO so there's no value for what is an expensive evening with 4 novices on the show,who's top of the bill a 5 fight novice boxing 6x3's against a 3 fight novice
