I was reading this Q&A on Scott Quigg (http://ringtv.craveonline.com/blog/1792 ... d-frampton) and was wondering what is going on with Hatton Promotions?

It seemed a year ago that Hatton needed to comeback to inject some momentum into the project, only for that to fall apart and "stall television dates".

What is the current health and strategy of Hatton Promotions? And has the Golden Boy tie in led to anything of significance?

It seems only Murray and Crolla are capable of carrying their own shows and losing Quigg must be a blow.

One would think there would be a gap in the market for a Northern promoter to have a stable based up there which could compete with the likes of Matchroom down south.

Happened to hennessy sports lost froch, murray barker when they couldn't get a decent tv deal. I doubt Hatton can do a hennessy and get dates with decent tv money.

I don't think they ever ran at a profit even with Sky, Hatton put a lot of his own money in, I don't think things were ever financially efficient. There is only so much money you can expect a promoter to invest, I heard he was down a couple of million.

I think Ricky is concentrating on training fighters its obviously a harder task promoting than he realised .
Its gonna have to be a small hall start to rebuild with Hattons profile and resources anything is possible.
Does he really want to is the question ?

With all due respect to Ricky, his promotions seem to involve getting a fighter to the starting gates, taking a cheque from the bigger, professional promoter and to then divy it out. All it took to get Murray to Buenos Aires to be honest was a plane ticket pocket money and his balls of steel, all the rest was sorted out, badly.
Never in a million years will Hatton Promotions be putting on a world class card by themselves, like someone said, they won't be around in this current guise by next year.

Without a TV deal things have been made very tough for the Promotions Company and people conveniently forget what shows were promoted by Hatton Promotions during the TV deal.
Murray fought on shows promoted solely by Hatton lest you forget.
I agree as things stand it will be very difficult for Hatton to stage a meaningful show - but do you not agree if Hearn had no TV deal he'd be in the same quandery ?

I agree that TV is a big factor but the first person to nail online market, (reliable, cheap, value for money and stable) which is where people should be entreprenuers at the moment in boxing is where it is at, or should be going. The excitable days of Friday Fight Night as a kid are gone and lost for ever. I still think that what ever you think of Hearn he is a smart cookie and without TV would be doing great things, without his dad, maybe not so quickly established, without boxing, still be a big fish somewhere doing something pretty well. Even online is a tough market mate.
Hatton TV I would venture to suggest was costing shed loads until scaled back.
As for " reliable cheap value for money and stable" look no further than Coldwell.tv.
That's where he's at - and I wish him all the best.
However a TV platform makes all the difference and without it - well, uphill battle.

^^ people have been saying Promoters need to change up and adapt to the new facts of life for quite a while now, mate.

I can't say I'm holding my breath, but it would be nice.

of course, the first to try it will result in reactions akin to those received by that guy who first suggested the earth wasn't flat.

I have been to a total of 2 small hall shows in the last year or so. that's about 1/5th my previous attendance. the current model isn't working even for a geek like me so how the hell are they going to attract the core/casual dollar without seriously looking at both the matchmaking and promotional side of things.
