Jose's skin above both eyes was tissue-paper thin at this stage of his career,
and he would slice open from even a mediocre punch.

Bruno was an expert in using his head and sharp elbows.

This bout would be a 'bloody-mess'.

Bruno would get floored early, but he would damage Jose's face and eventually
score a late TKO win by cuts.

Arcari also cut quite a bit.

Originally back in late February 1974 (after Jose Napoles was devoured by Carlos Monzon)
the Italian Fight Promoters offered Jose Napoles {$145,000} to come to Italy to fight
Bruno Arcari in June or July 1974.

Location = San Siro Municipal Stadium, Milan

The Italian Promoters were also willing to give Jose Napoles a home "For Free" in Milan
if he signed for the bout....

I can understand why someone of Napoles's stature didn't want to fight a challenger on the road.

I believe the Italians wanted Jose to move to Italy, and they offered him a nice home in Milan
for 'free', win or lose.

Too bad, as just a few years later, 'Mantequilla' was broke and was getting evicted from his apartment for
back rent.

Jose Napoles was living in abject poverty in Mexico City.

He was expelled from his second floor apartment, owing his landlord 300,000 Pesetas
in arrears, which was equivalent to $4000 U.S. Dollars at the time.

Wow, that's a lot of rent.
